With my X3 incoming I thought I'd better upgrade my trolley jack, mainly as I'm not sure if the old one will go high enough but also because it took about 100 pumps even to lift my 3 series!

Decided on this Clarke one, it's quite a serious upgrade from my old one, makes it look a bit pathetic really!

If anyone is considering buying a jack, don't bother with the <£60 ones, they're a waste of time really.

I've still got my 'little' Clarke - same model as yours.

I went for this as the bigger brother - can recommend :

Looks like that is basically the exact same jack, but with aluminium side plates instead of steel, which saves almost 4kg

I can't squat because of my ruined bikers knees so have to use the lateral leg press to protect them. I usually press 220kg on the lateral press
Yeah the leg press machine is much easier. I haven't got room for one unfortunately, I need a double garage!

While fine if you're coming back from injury, long term use of the leg press alone isn't great IMO. They do nothing for your supporting muscles, which you might benefit from if you have weak joints. Still, at least you're not using the smith machine...

I think you’ll find it’s same as the Clarke and SIP lightweight jacks and many others that are made in China, assembled in UK.

Not yet, bit premature getting them already, pretty sure I’m going with the CM Wheels 706M reps and Quatrac 5’s.

Part of me is wondering if I need the wheels, the Quatracs might be good enough to use all year! But the wheels are only £540 with a friends discount, and I can use the TPMS valves from my current winter wheels so guess it’s not much extra outlay.

Well thats annoying seeing them at £70.

I recently bought myself one of the for £95 from Costco.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Arcan-275...-/113212917347

I know another member on here also got one as I grabbed one for them too.

Only downside is they are fecking heavy.

I'll keep telling myself that the extra money and the weight are okay due to the extra versatility when in fact I will never need it

Yours 29kg, Mine 36kg... makes a difference Some of the 3ton ones are more like 20kg.

Yours 130mm - 465mm ... mine 78mm --500mm. Might be useful. Doubt it.

A decent jack really make a difference. I've just realised this after using a shitty halfords one. Took about 728 pumps to lift a 4 series. This one lifted my hearse with maybe 5 full pumps.

Oh well, we both got stung a bit!

I actually measured mine and it goes up to 485mm! And 6 pumps to full height is incredible!

I've got a costco guarantee so I dont really care.
Its just one of those things wondering why you skimped out in the past and just made do with what you had.

Absolutely, it was the Auto Express test that made me buy the little jack, don’t understand why they recommend it, bloody knackering changing 4 wheels with that thing!!

Chris, I use an older version of that jack, over 10 years old, and it’s been faultless. It is heavy but I trust it.
