Hey everyone, I have a 435i coupe xdrive. I really wanna kill the wheel gap on my car. Im thinking of getting bc racing coilovers. BR series. I'm looking for a tire-to-fender/stance look. I was wondering will the coilovers give me the look I'm going for because I know the RWD can go low but haven't seen nothing for the Xdrive, or should I go for the extreme lows. I do not have EDC

The last thing I'd do in Toronto is to lower the car, unless you put it up for the winter. Lowered cars, snow and potholes are a bad combination.

I have coilovers on my xdrive, I played around with a few lowering options.

First 2 pics show my current ride height and I love it. Looks great imo, has a composed ride and comfortable over bumps. I also didn't worry about scraping.

Second pic was when I had the car slammed all the way down just to see what it would look like. This lasted only a few hours. The ride felt noticeably worse due to less spring travel and I personally don't like the slammed look. It's also stressing the axles when it's that low so I didn't wanna cause any damage.

Just get the standard BR, I’m pretty low on Emmanuel design springs and the axle angle makes me nervous to turn xdrive back on

Your current height looks nice... how much of a drop is it... I was planning 30-35mm

Thanks! It was originally about 3 finger gaps stock xdrive. I'm now sitting at one finger gap all around. Sorry I don't know the exact mm drop.

Lol... well after measuring my fingers ... it equals about what I was planning.. 30-35mm 1-3/8"-1-1/2" ...

It's very important to note that as the suspension is lowered the negative camber increases. The chances breaking the front axle (half shaft) on lowered xDrive vehicles increase significantly if negative camber is greater than stock.

Four wheel alignment is highly recommended after lowering xDrive vehicles.

Hey guys ... just want to hear if anybody has issues with lowered Xdrives... I just got mine dropped 1-1/2" and just read someone has issues only after 3500miles dropped only 1-1/4" and yes he had an alignment.... your responses would be greatly appreciated...

My Fender height is 25-3/4"Front & 25-7/8"Rear

Hey FastF30.
I"ve had no issues...however, I only dropped by 1.0" fronts and 0.8" Rear. I also changed to F80 M3 bump stops which were about 1/2" shorter than my stock F36 bump stops. But was enough for me to get rid of that xdrive gap.

smak168, thanks for sharing the pictures. Dropping xDrive suspension more than 0.8" - 1.0" wouldn't be prudent. Your drop is just right.

Hey, just want to say. Be careful when dropping XDrives. I just broke my front axle and my ride height wasn't even that low (Bilstein B14s). But I do have wheel spacers and thicker wheels (8.5 front 9.5 rear)

"Wasn't even that low" is wildly subjective. Hard numbers or we can assume you were tucking tire.

I'm just trying to figure this all out... what where your tire sizes exactly?... which knuckle of the axle failed... don't think spacers could have that effect except for bearing failure in the hub.. please let me know all data... others have said and most springs are set-up for 7/8" drop... I'm on coilovers so no biggy to change height..

H&R springs say they are 1-5/8" drop or 40mm drop (I used this as my base when lowering)... can you please measure fender to ground ... and how long have you been dropped... also your car looks real nice...

I've been reading a ton of posts and I'm starting to lean towards there is another issue going on... have you been in any accidents or major potholes... Possible axle support bearing bracket or similar... at that drop you should of had no issues... does make me nervous.... Kies is dropped to 25-1/4" fender to ground on his 335i xdrive which is a 2"+ drop.... alexng72 fender is 25" and reported so far no issues... I'm gonna keep researching..

So let me know root cause and keep us updated.... thanks in advance...

I'm in some shit situation right now haha... My only wheels are my Niche ones because I've sold my 17" Stock wheels (I guess it won't fit anyway, because I upgraded to 435i XDrive brakes), so I ordered BBS RS 18"x8" square setup with new tires ($2000 with TPMS), B6 Bilsteins Front and Rear ($650), Stock Springs + Stock Strut Hardware ($800 )... $1250 per axle (I hope it's just one...) and whatever the f*** the labor will be.

I mean do whatever you want with your car, I'm just letting you know what I've experienced and going through now.

P.s. check carparts for a used axle... another guy was getting axles for less than a couple hundred on there...
