What’s your default drive mode?

Evening all. New to the forum having just bought a 2016 430d m sport GC. loving it so far but all the stuff online I’ve found suggests the car should revert to starting in Comfort mode however mine starts every time in ECOPRO.

I’ve also never had it auto stop despite being up to temp, no air con running and 9/10 degrees outside etc, think someone has coded that out.

I’ve a suspicion someone has coded it but can you confirm if anyone else’s starts in ECOPRO that hasn’t been coded? Many thanks.

There's an option when coding to make it start in EcoPro mode. Not my idea of fun, but to each his own! Might explain why the Start/Stop isn't kicking in either, if someone has been in there coding (although I think you might notice the button being automatically lit to suggest it has been disabled).

They do start in 'Comfort' as normal, giving the option to click up for fun, down for long-haul...

Definitely shouldnt start in eco pro. I've driven 3 different f3x cars, all start in comfort.

As far as I'm aware, the only models that start in Eco-Poo mode are the 320d ED (Efficient Dynamics, though given the ecxitement of the drive, it could probably lead to another sort of ED !)

Thanks for responses, as I suspected. I take it should be easy enough to revert to default? Ecopro is ok but not all the time!

This being my first BMW- does the start/stop kick in regularly on the x30d engines assuming up to temp, not too cold outside etc? As mentioned mine never has but there is no icons on dash to suggest it’s switched off, maybe another coding option to disable completely?

It seems to kick in all the time and IMO it's a complete waste of time as well.

You are driving in an M62 crawl and its stop/start every few seconds. Probably saves zero fuel.

Same here - haven't see any F30 model start in EcoPro by default. Did you buy it from the dealer or a private seller?

Default was eco poo on my 435d/320d. Coded it out to and changed to comfort. Coded out stop start. The 320d is mapped by e-maps. For some reason I always tend to drive it in sport! Switch from comfort every time and it's no less economical than comfort in the long run for me.

2018/68 F36 and mine is Comfort default. All I tend to do is knock it into sports auto.

It was a Non BMW dealer. Definitely been coded as the start stop defaults to off. Anyone know roughly the going rate to get it sorted, few guys near me seem to specialise in coding.

Set mine to start in Eco. I prefer the lower boost and RPM shifts when the engine is cold. I'm very mechanically sympathetic

In my 2015 auto, if i only lightly press the pedal coming to a stop, the engine wont stop. Press it a little further and it stops. It is frustrating when at a roundabout though and you press slightly too hard!!

Sport mode. The hesitation when pulling off from a junction makes me avoid normal mode.

Eco shite mode I loathe and never ever use.

On my car the stop-start kicks in before I've actually stopped which is both annoying and dangerous IMO. I coded it to default to off on start (in comfort mode) but if I put it in Eco Poo mode the stop-start comes back on until I put it back in comfort or sport when it goes off again. I'm happy with this setup.

The BimmerCode app will sort this for you, £25 for the app and about £30 for a dongle from Amazon. I’ve done some myself and I’m no expert, it’s pretty straightforward
