I have a 2015 car with NBT and 6NR BMW Apps.

At the weekend, I tried connecting an iPhone SE to the car to use the BMW Apps integration to run spotify properly. It worked beautifully. Full spotify control, Spotify appeared under sources in Multimedia, lovely. The BMW Connected app worked too, updating mileage/range information in the app.

So I handed the iPhone SE back to its owner and purchased a used 5S to use for Spotify integration.

However it simply doesn't work - nothing I try will make the Spotify option show up under Multimedia and neither will the app update to show mileage/range information.

It does show 'Apps configuration loaded' when I go through the connected drive menu, and I can play Spotify through USB like it's a conventional USB device, so obviously the cable works fine.

But what gives? What can I do to make this work? I've updated the comms firmware to the latest version, and updated to the latest version of iOS too...

I mean we all now BMW Connected is a pain at the best of times (The only reason I'm doing this is because Android isn't supported on iDrive 4) but this takes the biscuit

I find it's quite hit and miss, or on mine it is anyway.

I always plug my iPhone in via USB and sometimes it will just play as a USB but still show the album artwork and other times it will link to Spotify so I can control Spotify through the iDrive.

Spotify used to work perfectly for me with an iPhone 7, but at some point around Xmas it broke. It might be a Spotify update that killed it, I found some discusssion of this on the Spotify forum. Not sure where the blame lies, but you are not the only one having this grief.
