Welcome to the GT owners club, you said it "I knew this was the car for me"

And this car is "Unique" and again "I love this car".

I looked at the 4 GC but this car just seemed to tick too many boxes for me.

Enjoy.

I didn’t choose the GT it chose me.

Other than that yes it’s logical with my fam of 4. But I tend to gravitate towards the less popular choices. Not to many folks own them and I digg that.

Lastly, I got it for a steal.

It was ahead of the time in terms of styling. Just now we are seeing audi launch their own in the sportback model. Its got terrific interior room, panoramic sunroof a cool little active spoiler that really sets it apart from the rest.

The A5 Sportback has been around, it just wasn't sold in the US.

Ouuu the sport back is sweet. I’m huge fan of the old American fastbacks... the GT is a nice euro spinoff

I'd have seriously considered the A5 Sportback if I could have bought one, but Audi missed that opportunity. I wonder what changed their mind about selling it in the US? It's not like Americans have abandoned their disdain for practical vehicles. Ford wouldn't have made the decision to stop building cars in favor of SUVs if they were making profits on car sales.

You are better off. Bought and sold a $60k+ Audi in 2016 by 2018 after numerous quality problems and awful lack of support from AoA Customer Service. I'm "never again" for VW/Audi and suggest it to all others.

In the UK, the saloon and touring form is ever so popular, but the GT is coming down a lot, even so the 35D form. I haven't even seen one in flesh yet but it seems near as big as my current E220CDI and much much quicker so I am sold.

Was a long and occasionally frustrating shopping adventure for the wife but she ended up finding the ideal car for her.

Must haves:
* Hatchback
* Equal or greater HP/TQ than her stage 1 GTI
* Slightly more room

My must haves:
* Convenience/Premium packages

Nice to have:
* AWD
* Not an SUV

Her "No" list:
* Sedan
* Mid-size or larger
* Preferably not an actual wagon (we've both come from back-to-back hatchbacks)

Was trying to push for a used Model S, V60 Cross-country or A4 all-road but those fell in no list. She test drove an X1, X3 sDrive, and both the 330/340 GT. She preferred the 3GT and even the X3 over the 340 so that was the winner.

Based on the US EPA criteria for car size, total passenger and cargo volume, the GT is a large car. It just doesn't drive like a large car.

+1.....I chose it mainly for this. Actually, I didn't choose it--we were set on getting a 3-series wagon with baby #2 coming in recently, figuring that we needed the extra cargo capacity. Ended up going to the dealer and looked at a GT and was amazed that it was actually roomier than the wagon. I guess that's how you know you're getting old, when cargo space and legroom become important to you.

So short life since MY2013...

That is the flow of the times, so there is nothing that can be changed.

I dedicate this video with great respect for all 3GT project members...

- Rear leg room in order to fit the second babycar seat behind 6'1 driver
- Trunk space for stroller and more
- Cheaper than SUV in terms of price, fuel economy, tires and maintenance
- Handles better than an SUV (X3 M40i did not exist yet and can't afford X5M)
- 6 cylinders is a must so the wagon is a no go coming from an N54 E90
- MPPK !
- Stands out and it's rare

Just got a 2018. 330 GT.

A) Rear space for kids, and car seats. I really wanted a wagon, but I am 6'5", and with the seats behind me my knees were in my chest.

B) If they built the wagon on this chassis, I would be all over it.

C) Wanted something that drove well, not an SUV.

D) No matter how much I try not to, I always end up with an odd car.

One question though. Where can I find BMW racks that fit the mounting points on the roof? I don't see them on the website. I would prefer to buy used, are there racks for any other models that will fit the GT? Or is it a unique spread?

I've had 6 cylinder cars since the mid 90's and after a brief (expensive) mistake with an 4 cyl MB C350e I wanted a 6 cyl again. I loved my E46 330d which I had from new for 13 years from 2002 so a 3er 330d was a natural choice. However, I wanted the extra ground clearance (for the odd rough track) and a nice long loading area which led me towards a 3GT which I also like the look of. Most of the Saloon and Touring 330d's in the UK are M-Sport which are too hard, however the 3GT (again almost all M-Sport) ride much better. Possibly the bit which clinched the deal was that I managed to get a 13 month old 3GT with 11k on the clock for pretty much half it's new price! That's crazy depreciation, but works in my favour. I'd have struggled to find a comparable 2 year old car for that money. In fact I traded in an 19 month C350e with 13k on the clock for a the 13 month 3GT with 11k, both cars being around the same cost when new and despite it being a dealer part exchange they still gave me over 1200 UKP!!
Of course the only down side is it's not exactly the spec I'd have gone for, but for half price I'll live with that.

Funny how most mention 6 cyllinders. There are so many brand new BMW and Mercedes here in Italy and they are 316i, 316d, C200.. basically entry level gas and diesel engines. However, I have yet to see a car without premium lights and most have leather and a crap ton of options. One thing I hate in the US is to get premium lights you really have to bump up the base model and usually it's a $2-3K package and not an option.

Having a second child born recently, my 3er is really tiny. Although it's a class size larger than my Dodge Dart was, rear seat space is worse somehow. However, I am stuck with the car since I got stationed in Italy and it will be a pain to do trade ins and find something better. I've ridden in a 3GT and it was quite spacious.

I never considered 6 cylinders. I didn't need the 1/2 second faster 0-100KPH time or the higher fuel consumption. Previously I had a 2007 Altima, which had a 6. I'd have bought that with a four, but the car the dealer had in stock that I wanted happened to be a 6 so I took it. But that Nissan 6 wasn't a turbo, and didn't have direct injection. Despite my GT being 500 pounds/300 kilos heavier than the Altima it has better acceleration and better gas mileage to boot.

I ended up going to look at this instead of buying a Grand Cherokee. The 2015 330i GT was just too good a value to pass up for the price. I knew my wife would love the luxurious interior and I would be happy with the performance coming from a Mazdaspeed 3. Lastly, we will be moving to Chicago sometime this year so we'd need the AWD and heated seats in the winter.
