EcuTek for F-Series B58

Hey guys, there's been a lot of people asking about EcuTek for our platform, so far EcuTek's response hasn't been too promising.

I setup a petition so we can show EcuTek that there is a demand for it on our platform. If you'd like to show interest please help by signing it, as well as sending an e-mail directly to EcuTek (email listed below). Whether or not this helps bring EcuTek to our platform, only time will tell, but it can't hurt to try.

Petition: http://chng.it/KGMd7Zds
EcuTek Email: sales@ecutek.com

Is there a big demand for it ?

I guess the petition will be proof, but with most happy with BM3/MHD OTS cals is there a massive demand? Is there much more gains to be made? Im not so sure.

I'm with jackscratch. Why waste your time since there is other flash options out there (like BM3) that you can literally buy and have installed on a Sunday before you can finish your beer.

I've never heard of Ecutek (not that I should be the metric for demand), but has anyone else?

To me EcuTek doesn't really make sense on the lower tier platforms like the N55/B58, especially that are hardware/fueling limited. No OTS maps out of the box, and the cost is quite high once you factor in the cost of the license, and custom tunes. It's really hard to beat the value of BM3/MHD. More S55 guys are making the jump, go over to the M3 section, there are a few threads.

It's a more comprehensive flashing platform from what I gather. We have a local BMW shop here that does custom EcuTek tunes. I'm not familiar with them myself, but they seem to be a respected player.

I don't see why not having an extra option for tuning our engines with, however I do believe that at this point with all the research and development BM3 and MHD have on our platforms, I doubt many people will switch over to ecutek. The simplicity, effectiveness and results BM3 and MHD have offered so far is unbeatable and it's main selling point. But on the flipside, it might open new doors and possibilities to our engines, and more tuners to engage on tuning our platform. Props for taking a step forward and starting a petition!

EcuTek offers features people have been begging BM3/MHD to release for years yet still haven’t, flex fuel, on the fly map switching, antilag, custom launch control, ETC.

David Shoup explains it well why its a better product for tuners.

All of which is coming now.... remember its only been 2 odd years since the DME was able to be flashed so using the argument that people have been begging for years isnt a valid one....

I get that it might be better for some tuners, after all if thats what you have experience with off course your going to want to have 1 platform to use to tune multiple cars, its less hassle for the tuner and less time spent learning new tuning soft wear, i completely get that...

I thought 2 was an even number.

I’m happy with bootmod3.

MHD for N55 has been out for a better part of a decade and they don't have flex fuel yet, N54 has been out for who knows how long, and they still don't have on the fly map switching.

Also both David Shoup and Steven @ Wedge (my tuner) have both said they'd vastly prefer to be working on EcuTek compared to MHD or BM3.

I attached a post directly from their website, looks like they tuned the fuck out of a Supra with the b58. So why wouldn't they tune BMW? Looks like they hold the world record with that Supra. Definitely interested but to be blunt and honest, judging from the response you got from them. In my opinion they're not planning on doing shit with our platform

If you follow the supra group you’ll see exactly those fastest guys half of them are with blown motors and transmissions and others built the motors. Not everyone wants to throw their car in the garbage that quick to get some record and I for one am not going down that rabbit hole again with building a motor like on my Evo a few years back, so done with that.
