Ordered a 335d mid October I was told to expect delivery mid December, I had a phone call off them yesterday to say it’s due in the country in two weeks time. I should be able to pick the car up end of this mouth. (Happy days)

That's crazy!! I ordered mine start of October and got told middle of December. I haven't got a phone call from the dealer to say mine is due! Surely mine should have been built before yours. What are your specs?

If only it was all that easy.

Different dealers seem to order cars so they have a build slot which can then be amended if an order comes in. It seems that may have been what's happened here.

Start of October to mid December is still a reasonably quick turn around. I ordered 12th August with an estimated delivery of mid December.

Patience is a virtue that is tough to have when you're waiting for a new car. I think mine is wearing thin and I've still got about 5 or 6 weeks to go

EB11
Dakota Black Leather

Exterior Mirror-folding Auto Dimming

Enhanced Bluetooth telephone with USB & Voice Control
M Performance Parts including wheels

I don’t think the spec made a difference as I changed a couple of options a week later

This whole thing is so complicated and confusing! Should just be first come first serve in my eyes. I know there will be a lot of factors which influence which cars are built first etc. Not that they care how long we wait once they have our £££.

If it wasn't for the fact I'd already rang my dealer about 10 times since I ordered then I'd be on the phone now asking for an update but I actually feel like a pain for constantly ringing. If I decide to ring before they ring me I will ask for an email address so I can hide behind my computer and pester them!

Ordered mine end of August and it was 'production complete' a while ago now. My dealer hasn't heard anything since October 25th and I can't seem to get them to call me back. I will try them again later today. I was hoping for this weekend but maybe it will be next instead???
I'm over it now!

Same with us- ordered F31 335d in mid-october, and should be here at the start of December!

Lots of options specced, but no individual colours or leather, which do seem to delay things

I'm having fun on the BMW archive link that Zooberoo posted.

http://www.bmwarchiv.de/vin/bmw-vin-decoder.html

The sequence is so very nearly up to mine now, I expected it to have reached mine by now but at the moment it's only adding a couple a day if that.

The second most recent addition is an EBII with Opal White...

Is that the one with loads of individual options at the bottom?

I believe your car is being built today!!

Now the wait until it arrives at Bremerhaven. It will probably be there on 20th Nov. Could delivery be brought forward to the end of the month?

Still not heard anything since 25th October when it was 'production complete'!
My dealer told me on Saturday that he can't locate my car at the moment...I'm losing the will to live

Yes I logged in this morning and it's on the sytem

Is that a) being built today or b) starting build today or c) finishing build today??? Or do they build it all in one day!!?

The thirst for updates on it's whereabouts can only get stronger now! I really must chill and wait for my dealer to call...

I don't know the answer regarding the build. However, I would be astonished if what is essentially final assembly can't be done in tens of minutes or a few hours at the most.

However, it is normally 9 days from the "Production date" until it is "at port of exit". The journey up is by train which can't take much more than a 6 hours so I don't know what happens for the rest of the time. Perhaps someone in the know can enlighten us!

Having seen your build I can now see the irony in the "with some other bits" statement in your signature!

Oh what my in-dash Betamax player you mean. I'm the only one with that little beaut! Check me out

9 effing days. Seriously should have considered the one-way flight to Munich. Imagine driving it back :-)

Don't forget the magic beans pack!

Seriously though, it looks like you specified your F30 down to the colour of the stitching on the Cashmere Merino leather with an exception (amongst others) that the handbrake gator was to be "as Dakota". Plus, no rear centre headrest etc. If that's true, it's seriously cool! Didn't know you could go that far.

Really looking forward to the photos assuming you post them! It'll be the only Tanzanite Blue 335d posted to date, won't it?

If you need to kill 30 minutes over the next 9 days, search YouTube for Top Gear Ground Force. It's not bmw-related in any way but the bbq always cracks me up. If, however, you can't stand TG it's best avoided!

Not sure what else to suggest for now. Just hope I'm wrong and 9 days turns out to be 8, or 7 or 6...

Next stop Bremerhaven.

Er what? I just specified Cashmere and assumed that was that...

I’ve just done a translation of the whole bottom section of the document on the VIN archive website and yes it seems you're right. Black Dakota gaitor. Hmm, not 100% happy about that. If I’d know it could be in Cashmere too, I’d have specced it.

This raises an important point others may want to consider. My dealer never went into that level of detail with me.

I know I’m being a little precious about this, but that’s the problem with configurators. We’ve all done it, spend hours on packages and options and finance etc etc and when it comes to doing a deal with the dealer, we arrive pretty much there in terms of spec and so there isn’t much discussion on the day of ordering. It was all about the money.

What all dealers should do is say… right, Mr Knowitall, let’s just go through each and every item to make 100% sure you know what you’re getting. Joking aside, if he’d done that with my Online Entertainment, I’d have taken it off. To be fair I didn’t ask to go through everything but then again I wasn’t aware of the depth of individuality one could go to.

But if I’d known I could have gone all Lawrence Llewellyn Bowen about the stitching, I’d have had a field day. Even the stitching on different parts could I think be specified, eg the quilting (door cards??) stitching is listed as in cream, and actually that would have looked good in Criollo.

But what actually happened is that I came to the dealer all assertive saying I’ve done my research and I know what I want so all you have to do Mr Dealer is get me the price I want.

Maybe this is a lesson for all those about to order.

I’ll see how it all looks in a couple of weeks, but if there are bits that I could have specced (leatherwise) and I’ve not got it, I may be ever so slightly crestfallen. Only a bit, but, well you know.

I agree with that 100%, but the problem is then they would need to understand what they are selling
