Last year, I did a thorough A-B test comparing stock to JB+.

https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1509761

This year, (once my CPO warranty ends in Sep), I will be doing the same between stock and BM3 stage 1.

Not expecting you to wait, as I am sure you'd like to get extra power sooner than that. But be on the lookout for some good, hard data and scientific comparison.

The real bonus will be, using WinPEP, I can take the dyno data from all 3 states of tune and overlay them on the same graph. That will be the cool part and should allow for some really insightful observations.

Though I don't blame folks for trusting their butt dynos, I always need proof in order to believe that something really does work. Stay tuned and good luck with your tune.

I had been running the JB+ for 2 years now and had it set to +3,5 psi and is a great little piece of Hardware and had tons of fun driving with it. My Experience with the JB+ was that (because it only boosts psi) it would kick in at close to 4000rpm and the power gain was very noticeable. I have used Torque to data log and would see a max psi in the region of 19psi all up. I have gone up against many 3 litre v6 cars, power to weight ratio being a big factor here but have left them behind from a dig and pulled away. i have also gone up against an Audi S3 and it was very close, with the S3 pulling away slightly. The one thing that did bother me with the JB+ was the fact that it made the car jerky and was not that smooth through the gears but overall I had a great experience with it.

I decided to take it a step further and also wanted some burbles so decided to go with the bootmod3 stage1 tune. Have been running the tune for a couple of days now and from my experience what a difference over the JB+. More power and smoother to boot, my car feels like anther machine. Same torque app used on same profile setting and my psi is now at 21.9psi. I also noted that the sports display has been re calibrated through bootmod3 and i have got it to 220KW. (295HP). Ready to take on the Audi S3 again for a rematch in the near future .

The slight burbles that come with the stage 1 tune are fine for now and sound better in Sports Mode with flap always open.

Hope this helps somewhat.

Cheers
Let us know when you get the notch after a second run against an S3. Based on my experience, you'll pull away slightly and it might seem close at first but then get a big surge around 110-135mph, not sure what gear it's in at the time because I haven't paid attention (xdrive ZF8hp) but I seem to get a great hard pull then it plateaus a bit, then pulls hard again. All WOT. The second surge is where you should pull away easy. Maybe it's time for a custom tune for me. BTW I think you're about 200-500lbs lighter than me so you should do even better.

I've been curious about this as well. I'm waiting on the FMIC and catless DP to ship, so I may dyno test it afterwards to have solid data.

Stage 1 is a noticeable difference probably from 180HP to about 230HP.

Stage 2 I expect to be noticeable as well and take it somewhere around 260-270 HP.

Just a question. Los Angeles area, can you point out a dyno shop and how much is it?

This is horrible - after this long!?

I installed the FMIC a few days ago. I hope my DP arrives before the weekend to put it on and test Stage 2 out.

I emailed a local shop to check their pricing. It's in Scottsdale AZ. As long as it's not in the hundreds of dollars to test it, I should be able to have it done.

Haha, I heard back from them. It's $75 to test it out here. That's very encouraging!

Sadly, my DP will not be arriving in time for a weekend install. Arrival date is 9/23. I'm hoping to install it on Monday if it doesn't come in late as I have already pre-flashed to Stage 2.

From my experience, running the Stage 2 flash with no DP does not make a meaningful difference. I hope this isn't a letdown after I go catless.

Hi all,

I am running beta for B48 hybrid and all my dyno charts are posted and FYI this tune is much better than JB4 (MAP 1-3) from my experience. The most I got with JB4 was 300whp and stage 1 bm3 was 320whp. BM3 is a much smoother tune. JB4 has initial spikes in power which are dangerous to the motor. See trend for reference.

Yikes! So you're running stage 2 with no supporting mods? 93 Octane?

I was running stage 2 with an FMIC and stock dp on 91 octane for a few days. I actually installed the catless dp this weekend. The car is definitely faster post dp install, though nothing earth shattering. I could be expecting too much though - it's a 320i. My passenger described it as a roller coaster feel during the test run

I love mine, all the mods I've done have led to a very fun and fast enough 320i. Excited for xDelete next.

I've been back and forth with bmw. There is an issue with my tans or transfer case that they are failing to find. Since it's still under warranty I have not flashed it until this issue is resolved out of courtesy for my bank account. Not eta on the dyno yet. Hoping maybe by years end but no promises.
