I have a 2013 328i and every time I start up my car, the engine sounds like a diesel. I've done research on why it sounds so loud and annoying lol and found that it's a known feature of the car (direct injection cause the noise). I love my car and I'm not looking to get rid of it but I'm wondering if anyone has done anything that minimizes the noise. Would anything help or am I just stuck with blasting the radio to void it?

You are right about the direct injection noise and diesel correlation. My 2013 328i was louder then what I would expect in the cabin. Dealer said it was because of improper installation of my aftermarket windshield, and something about the bead not being good. They did something without taking the windshield off and it was noticeably quieter, although windshield replacement/reinstallation is necessary to fix it.
My SA said that a decent proportion of aftermarket windshields are incorrectly installed.
