Alarm going off
I’ve had the above happen a few times today. I’ve checked round and there is nothing obvious? When I got in it after the second alarm I had the “Increased battery discharged” message.
Do you think the battery is on its way out and that’s why the alarm has gone off; or is this symptomatic of the alarm going off a few times and the fault lies with the alarm? I’d appreciate any advice as my neighbours are going to lynch me if it keeps going off. I haven’t disabled the interior sensors yet but will if it goes off again. Can it be looked without arming the alarm? Any help gratefully received?? |

I doubt it’s the battery going flat. I think the alarm would only sound with a complete battery disconnect rather than low voltage. I assume the car still starts, so it can’t be that flat.
I don’t know about the F30, but older E46 cars often had false alarms due to the bonnet switch getting a bit intermittent. I’d try disabling the interior sensors first, but a quick diagnostic session should identify the trigger. I only tried it once when I first got my car, but I unlocked and re-locked my car with the connected drive app on my phone, and the red alarm led didn’t flash after it locked. May be a temporary solution. |

Battery discharge?
1. How often do you drive your car? 2. How long for when you do? 3. Any aftermarket gubbins fitted? 4. How old is the battery? 5. When was the battery last put on charge if you have a battery tender? |

As below. Had battery tested by Halfords; yes I know not necessarily a totally fail safe test; however they’ve advised it’s fine. It’s booked in with bmw next week.
The air conditioning just went mental again whilst driving; as well as earlier when parked up. Somethings amiss for sure Quote:

So definitely aircon issues. Returned to car at the end of work today having had it parked up for 10 hours. Before I even unlock it I can hear the aircon fans running at full speed. Unlock it and they stop. Start car and get the same battery warning light.
Still no fault codes unless it's logging the battery drain somewhere. It's showing green/ok on the I drive engine/fault check menu. I'm looking forward to the service manager calling me next week to say " sorry we can't replicate the fault" |

If you’ve got a laptop handy, you can set yourself up with dealer level diagnostic capabilities for the price of an E-Net cable from eBay. If it’s under warranty, obviously take it to the dealer, but I still like to be able to diagnose things myself. |

Car with dealer (as per my aircon thread); aircon/ heating system fault; lots of faults stored on the key when put on their system. They’ve warned it could take a while!!!

So to update; car is now back. Wiring loom had been incorrectly routed and has been tubing on chassis from day 1. Wire had finally worn through to the copper and caused an intermittent short hence the random behaviour.
I have to say that I’m quite impressed with the dealer. It was dropped off on monday night as I was working away yesterday however want supposed to be looked at until today. They’ve diagnosed the fault, and worked flat out on it to get it back to me this afternoon. On the basis the loom could only be accessed by taking the dash completely out I think that’s a good turnaround. He admitted that the egr situation has been a nightmare lately and that the senior directors have all been out helping shift care about to try and keep them on tthe h grounds whilst awaiting parts. Anyhow all seems good now and no creaking from the dash so far which is always a worry! |
