what replacement mileage for brakes are you seeing? also what should the average replacement mileage be for brakes? my car is a 335i M Sport

I have exactly the same on my 328 xdrive. 7062 miles on the car and shows 8k left on the front and 14k on the rear. It decreases at a rate of 3/1 (three miles on the computer for 1 mile in real life). Kind of low if you ask me. On my Infinity i changed the pads at 65000 km (40k miles).

Hmm, mine is a lot higher than that. I was worried that mine may come outside of the warranty. I think mine are something around the 35k range. I'll have to double check to make sure.

The brake pads are considered consumables. They are not covered by warranty. So we are kind of screwed. We have to pay out of our pocket. I haven't even driven hard the thing...

Definitely not warranty - unless they just failed or something

I have just confirmed with the dealership. In Canada the brake pads are not covered under the 4 year regular maintenance (the free one, that comes with the car). It is covered by some extra plan that, unfortunately I don't have. Maybe US is different.

Mine is similar low numbers, my old bimmer beater MT original brakes last 90k+, oh well. BMW free maintenance in US does cover brakes, while Audi's maintenance(at $800 for 1st 45k) does not cover brakes.

Dafuq? My E36 M3's brakes lasted till 65k, Z3M lasted to 70k with autocross and a track day on them, and I'm pretty hard on brakes. Second set on the Z3M is going strong 138k, but I do have separate track pads now.

I'd be VERY surprised if anyone gets under 50k street miles on their F30's brakes. Though be forewarned the stability control system uses the brakes so if you're running your car really hard with the nannies on, you can burn em up (especially the rears) quicker than that.

Yeah, I got that. I had never even heard of this early monitoring system. I wonder how it works. For a long time BMWs have had the little sensor in the pad cut-out that triggers when the pads need replacing, but the replacement interval estimate is new on me. I wonder how accurate it could possibly be. Is this a new F30 feature or was it on the E90 too?

US basic maintenance plan covers brakes. I had the basic plan on my E90 and brakes were done complete with rotors at no charge at all to me. So, the info given here is not accurate on coverage. The pads would not be covered under the extended warranty but maintanance plan does cover brakes.

How about looking at the brake pads? When the pads are the same thickness as the backing plates, time for new ones.

Unfortunately, in Canada is different. Only the Scheduled Maintenance is free.

In addition to the services included in your regular Scheduled Maintenance, Service Inclusive PLUS Full Maintenance includes these additional wear-and-tear repairs:
- Front Brake Pads and Discs
- Rear Brake Pads and Discs
- Clutch (if worn)
- Windshield Wiper Blades

So, we pay 8000$ more for the same car and we have less basic coverage. SWEET!
I visually checked the pads and they are about half worn.
Anyway, i will change them myself. Did it before. It's not that hard.

I don't have M-sport so i do not know how much will those pads be. For 328 Xdrive with stock brakes the pads run between 70 $ (Textar) to about 90 $ (Beck Arnley). This is for the front ones. The rears are cheaper.
Unfortunately i did not see any aftermarket M-sport.

According to my 335i luxury line, its comp says my front brake pads service due in 80k miles and the rear pads in 70k miles,I have 12k miles on the car. Is this some kind of mistake or glitch on the ccomputer ???

Hi, my iDrive prompted a front brake pad change after 32500 km (~15,000miles). When I went for change, the service adviser prompted a change of rotor as well. Costed me a good 1000 bucks for the whole deal.

I am kind of surprised that rotors need change so soon. I mean, these things are meant to last; and changing rotors this early is unexpected.

What is the experience of other drivers? Is it normal to change pads around 30,000 km (15,000 miles) and to change rotors every time with the pads?

cheers!
