Tips on Selling a 430i Coupe

Hey all, new to the forums (apologies if there is a sticky thread of this).

Planning on selling my 430i coupe soon (Australia) and was wondering if it would be worth it to remove all of the 'mods' on it prior to selling? Also noting that any of the labour would need to be done by a mechanic, I currently dont have the capacity to remove it myself.

Currently the car has:
Stage 1 Tune
MPE Exhaust
Rear diffuser
Black front grill
Tinted windows

A couple of dealers have said they prefer the car to be stock and Im not quite sure how far to go.

Thanks!

None of those items are worth removing since you have to pay a mechanic to remove the items. I would remove it if you were working on your own car.

Is there an interest in your vehicle from private buyers who may appreciate all the mods?

Outside of the tint these are doable by yourself easily. The most difficult is the exhaust and even then that would be relative. You could make some money back even.

Yeah that was an initial concern, guess these items will stay on hopefully the new owner will appreciate them

Havent approached the private market yet, only gone to used car dealers and they prefer it stock. I'm hoping there will be some interest as the mods aren't too extreme.

Sounds fair, I'll see how the listing goes, but if there is no interest, I'll just youtube how to remove everything

None of those things would take more than 5 minutes to remove with the exception of the exhaust and even then it's the one thing that it would make financial sense to remove. It will absolutely not increase the value of your car, but you can absolutely sell it and get money back.

I would suggest private party. There really is nothing on here except for the tune that would make someone think twice. You could pay a mechanic to remove the exhaust and sell with separate if needed.

I think other than exhaust + tune that are truly "major" mods, the dealers are just looking to lowball you and get a better deal.

Mine sold private party and it had loads more mods. Test the waters, explore your options unless you're in an extreme rush.

IMO at the end of the day, if you took care of the car it'll sell itself

I am actually in the market for a B58, and when I am looking for a car, I shy away from those that have been modded, or even those that offer the mods included on the side if the car was restored to original, even though I am planning on modding my car once I get it. The reason is that if the previous owner modded the car, he is more likely to have driven the car hard compared to someone who was just daily driving and never really testing the limits of the car. I don't want the car I buy to have had the engine beaten up on. Just my take, GL selling!

Hey mate, I've put my 428i on Carsales a while back in 2021 ($36k, alpine white, 2016 model April compliance, fully optioned, 100000 km's back then, freshly detailed, full history) and all I got was a load of junk offers, usually by kids who couldn't afford the car and all.... one offered me 10k down and 26k down the line when he makes it from work... haha)... or a bunch of people who would offer me 30k instead of the 36k I was asking for

I've got some other cars up for sale M3 and sold it within 4 days... deposit down and buyer coming to get it in about two weeks time when funds are ready.

Btw, my 428i is a fully stock car, no mods, except front grills black instead of chrome. Hope your experience is better than mine!

I guess the used car market in Oz is different than the states. These cars don’t last long in the states. I would remove the tune and exhaust and sell it as stock. I’m sure you can sell both mods for a decent amount.
