Yeah, its priced very fairly and can read/clear codes as well.

How can I tell if it's staying open after disconnecting device? Is sound the only way to tell without sucking on the rear tailpipe while trying to look inside while car is running? |
If you drive with the drivers side window down you should be able to hear a clear difference. Do you have stock exhaust? |

I just got a response back from the app designer, the vgate (or whatever you have to communicate) must be plugged in when using bimmerlink and attempting to keep the valve open 100% or the time.
