Smaller Hub & Bearing Cap?

Hey folks,

I've got an interesting issue I thought I'd ask for your help with. I recently ordered Forgestar wheels, but the rear wheels didn't fit due to the fact that the Hub & Bearing cap on my 2015 F32 xdrive protrudes too far so the wheels wouldn't mount properly. I had to use spacers to make them fit. Does anyone know of caps that are shorter or fit completely inside of the hub/axle? Apparently not all rear axles are like this, so Forgestar didn't account for the extra 2-3mm. Any ideas on how I could replace that hub and bearing dust cap so I can use the wheels without spacers? I found these, but they look exactly like what I already have. Any help is appreciated!

That cap doesn't look right. Mine do fit all the way into the hub.

Agree, the folks at Forgestar said they've only seen this a handful of times. I guess I can try ordering a new part and see if it fits better.

Mine aren't that color either. Mine originally fell out very easily. I had to spread the springs that are supposed to provide grip wider to get them to fit securely. Between the different color and knowing how easily they fall out I wonder if someone who worked on the car lost the originals and tossed in whatever they had lying about.

I thought about removing the caps. Thoughts on any problems that could occur by doing that?

That's an interesting thought. They certainly don't look right. The guys at getbmwparts we're also dumbfounded, they can't even seem to source a proper replacement. I'm debating removing them altogether (which may not be the best idea) or trying to retrofit something from another model.
