Hi guys, I'm trying to update the idrive software on my 435xd GC, but it keeps telling me Ican't update the software. O have tried 2 different USB sticks both formatted with fat32 and placed the . bin file in the root directory. Any ideas or suggestions?

I think the update only provides USB and BT improvements but it would still be nice to be on the latest software.

current version

I thought that message just meant you already have the latest software for your car?

When I went online and put in the last 7 digits of the Vin on the BMW update site, it came up with software UPD05062 for cars after Feb 14.

BMW no longer release software updates via USB, it's all in the firmware now.

Interesting! Mine actually had the i-level updated last week, but all my coding in the HU-NBT2 was still there so obviously they didn’t update the HU for some reason, in which case I wonder if the BT software version was updated!?

Nope, if the coding is there then they didn't update the headunit.

Was that from the BMW UK update site - UPD05062 hasn't changed for me on the UK site for the last couple of years. If I use the BMW.com/update check, it advises that I am up to date.

Yes it was the UK site, I will try the .com version of the site and see what it comes up with.

So to get newer BT software it would have to be ID5 or 6?

I realize this is an old thread, But I experienced same and phoned BMW Connected drive, they told me to take it to my local agent, which I did, I was told that the software wasn't compatible with my I-Level software and would need to update that, They gave me the cost which I thought was very reasonable, but I am wondering what the update gives you and if it is worth it.
Does anybody know what it gives?

It won't do much for the cost of the upgrade IMHO.
