Exclamation Message From TRL Re: G20 3 Series Deals!

I just thought I'd let everyone know the situation with deals for the new 3 Series, some of this is probably obvious to a lot of you but it's best to let everyone know the exact situation, this will help people not to jump on rubbish deals too early & hopefully prevent Tony from getting too bombarded with questions regarding this.

From Tony (TRL):

"Dealers will be seriously chastised and risk their future allocation if caught advertising deals on cars before a launch. I lost a deal on a Z4
yesterday as one dealer has offered 4% off already.
The fact is that there is bound to be some decent deposit contributions, and 95% of customers will want finance. So once we know what
BMW are offering we can set our stall out. I expect to be doing some pretty good deals, however as with any new car launch, the majority of early adopters are likely to pay through the nose for the car. its not launched until March 9th, so ordering in January is fine.
I am asking customers not to cut their nose off to spite their face, by accepting a deal now for say 4% off when in 2 months time we may all be offering 10% off plus a deposit contribution."

Anyone buying a new 3 series with a 4% discount has to be barking mad. By the time they come to trade it in in 4 years the roads and forecourts will be inundated with them and it'll be worth 50p.

What would have been great is if somebody had kept a good track with the X3 and 5 series how the discount rates evolved over the 12 months from launch.

I'm not sure a 3er qualifies for a first adopter no discount I gotta have one rush? It's just a run of the mill car surely...

X3 M40i:
Released June 2018 and immediately available from TRL with 4k discount if you promise to be discrete LOL
Advertised today on his babybmw sub forum 4 months after launch at £6100 discount which is currently better than Broadspeed

Happy to help - knowledge is power.

Im interested in this car and hope its cheaper still in a years time And TBH why wouldnt it be? Expensive SUV with thirsty 6 pot and expensive road tax post Brexit in a recession.............

5 series was available with 10% discount a couple of months after launch, then increased to 20% within a year.

So ordering a G20 in 12 months when all the models are available and the discounts have maxed out should be perfect!

I think someone here got more than 10% (perhaps even closer to 20%) before launch of the G30. I expect a similar picture for the G20. They don’t seem to be able to hold off for long, particularly with car sales currently on the floor.

Ordering a launch car is literally madness.

Chris, there is a certain irony of that coming from a man who struggles to keep a car 6 months....

Well I was expecting that and rightly so.....but none of them are 'launch' cars and I'd challenge most to find a better deal than my current ...which is an EOL variant too.

Absolutely - lots to be said for buying an end of line sorted version, especially when as good as yours!

I got 6% discount on my SQ5 versus the 14% plus you can get now (although only stock cars currently...) - won't be buying a new model again!

My 2004 E53 X5 was an LCI and still had plenty of gremlins, presumably as it was hammered together by rednecks. The creaks from the sunroof in particular were terrible and never fixed despite a vast amount of dealer work.

I now tend to buy cars 1-2 years after launch. I bought an F10 in 2011 (although I chose the wrong engine) and the F30 in 2014. I aim to keep cars for quite a few years, this is around the point that discounts are as good as they get, plus the car won't date too much during my ownership.

For those who keep cars for 2 years or less, buying end of life stuff could be sensible.
