coast2coast sent a flyer and are quoting 5% off list already. Not a lot but bodes well when we can all start calculating 20 plus % off prices... I.e the week after launch

Coast to Coast’s configurator doesn’t match BMW’s online configurator.
I.e. for Sport C2C has HUD but not on BMW configurator.
And on MSport, Driver Assist plus pack on C2C but not on BMW.
etc.

Will we really see discounts so soon after launch?

G30 was available with decent discounts not long after launch

TRL is advising to wait it out for a few months, and that BMW UK will frown upon any dealers who strip every penny from early orders. There's a thread somewhere to that effect

Yeh I had a quick look and the spec of the msport was nowhere near the fully loaded spec of what was on the original Configurator..

I think I recall someone reported ordering their G30 at a 20% discount before the launch. While BMW would no doubt prefer dealers to hold off discounting, or disguise it with inflated part-ex prices, it is almost inevitable that 20% will be available soon and more soon after.

With so many dealers operating independently, prices are only as strong as the weakest link. New car sales are very poor right now - 20% down on a year ago:

The G20 has to sell for BMW by the boat load, particularly in the current climate of reduced demand, so the 20%+ discounts won't be too many months away
I dont think BMW makes much money on 20%+ discounted cars. They make up for it with their finance offerings however. As others have pointed out, BMW is as much a bank as a manufacturer these days

I think that it will be 4 months after launch until we see 20% discounts.
I am sure that there are enough present 3 series owners and converts from
other makes who are attracted to the latest model to keep the factories going
at full capacity.for the first 4 months.
Don’t forget that after 4 months BMW will start releasing AUC G20 3 series at quite a saving.

There is a much more important reason not to order a G20 yet, no 6 pot engines available yet!

A great engine but I will be happy with a 330i.
I have a 6 cylinder Porsche to keep me happy.

Garage List
Discounts today = depreciation tomorrow. On that basis, buying a new BMW in early model life phase at near to list is just a recipe for burning money.

Agreed, depreciation is bad enough after getting a good discount. It's must be nice to be one of the first to drive around in the latest model but anyone buying at list must need their head examined.

Having had my F30 for nearly 6 years now, and no car loans/payments for 5 years.

I'm getting ready for the new G20 but probably after the hoo-haa has died down, and prices become keener.

when I went from E90 to F30 a little less than a year after they came out, and there was a bit of hate for the new F30 on shape and styling.
but I really liked the modernised look.

Overall I really like the styling of the G20 inside and out...
The only thing I'm finding very difficult to stomach though is that fugly grill...
If I can't get an upgrade gloss black with proper fins replacement, i'll have to get the jigsaw and spray cans out

I can’t get my head around the configuration. Electric seats showing as a £250 option (great, mich cheaper than the insane £1000 they are now) - but if you try and select it, it forces you into one of the packs at nearly £2k

I hope they don’t really do that because surely there will be individual options you want without buying things you don’t

And enhanced Bluetooth and wireless charging *still* a paid option? Bloody hell BMW. At least CarPlay is free for a year which suggests it has the hotspot set up

^^^^^ I specced a 5 in the summer and it was the same, you can't have some of the modest stuff without selecting a ££££ pack as well

Frustrating to say the least

The move to packs (and not being able to specify many different individual options) is down to the way in which the vehicles are emissions tested now... basically, my understanding is that you have to test one of each set of possible combinations.. So more individual options equals many more vehicles to test... and this slows everything up and adds cost...

Look at something like a Mazda, or a Hyundai... And their take on "options"...

As for the original point. G20 discounts are now up to about 10/12% on at least one popular site.
