CPO Confusion
BMW's current CPO literature states:
"BMW Certified Pre-Owned: Covers you for 1 year with unlimited vehicle miles, after the expiration of the 4-year / 50,000 mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty for Passenger Cars and Light Trucks (Valid only in the U.S.A. including Puerto Rico) for a total of 5 years / Unlimited vehicle miles. 5 years of BMW Roadside Assistance is included. Additional plans are available to extend your vehicle’s coverage up to a total of 6 years with unlimited miles." This would put my CPO warranty expiring in April, 2019. I swear when I bought the car though (November, 2016) that it went to April 2020 and 100k miles, not unlimited. Anyone know when/if this changed or if I'm just dumb?

I bought my 2012 335i after you (May 2017) and was covered under CPO until Feb 2018 (6 years, not sure about the miles).
There's a good chance yours is covered for 6 years. |

BMW recently changed the CPO coverage to 1yr/unlimited miles. If you bought your car before the change, they will still honor the 6yr/100k mile CPO.

Bmw changed the certification to 1 year unlimited miles. This matches Mercedes CPO coverage. In my eyes they made the warranty worse just another way to cut costs. Just like they did away with the full maintenance coverage for 4 years

HOWEVER, because there was so little time left on the original warranty, they extended the CPO warranty to 2 years (unlimited miles), totaling on overall warranty of 28 months from the date of purchase. |

Alright, thanks! I checked my paperwork and all I have is the printout from the dealer's website that DOES list 6/100k. I just wanted to make sure the change to 1 year was recent and the 6/100k wasn't a misprint on the records I have. PHEW!

They definitely decreased the cpo warranty. The 100,000 mile limit on the previous cpo warranty was irrelevant, in practice, to most cpo buyers anyway, so having unlimited miles doesn't gain anything.

About 5 months ago, I got my 2018 430i CPO with just 6,000 miles on the clock. I'm going to do around 35,000 miles per year. This unlimited change is very good for some of us
I think I'm covered until around 9/2022 with unlimited miles. Will likely have around 140k miles by the time the warranty is over. I hope to god the turbo blows at 139,000 |
