would like to hear feedback on n20 users with supersprint exhaust, especially whether if there is drone on low rev and improvements over stock. I can't really tell from the YouTube clips.

Thank a lot!

As mentioned before you will need the adapter (60,2mm to 75mm) so you can use the standard exhaust pipe as well as the M Sport diffuser. Diffuser is a straight fit.

The 320i does not however have the cablings for the exhaust flap/valve release so you will need to disable it. You can do the DIY - Exhaust flap mod (Golf Tee) or just remove the whole thing. I ended up removing the electronics and welded the nut so that the flap is always open.

I am very satisfied with the results. With the stock exhaust I could barely here anything from the back but now there is a nice growl.

Some pictures attached.

**** if I purchase the entire system (cat back Remus or AFE) then I will not need an adapter correct? I will just need to cut my rear bumper to fit the exhaust... am I right?

Question: Did you all source your exhausts using the 328i model? Haven't really found anything that's sold specifically for a 320i 2012-16 online yet. At least, for dual exhaust as that's what I'm looking into.

With an exhaust band clamp like so.

https://ibb.co/nnCxMa

Separately does anyone know the outer diameter of the 320i B48 LCI pipe at pictured location?

I got 66mm by my measurement which seems off from any known pipe and clamp diameter (2.5inch/64mm, 2.75inch/70mm).

I'm looking to get a band clamp but don't know if they'll fit with the pipe being 2mm wider than 2.5 inches.

I'm new to this so, when people say a clamp is 2.5 inches is that an inner or outer diameter, or just a nominal figure with some implied inaccuracy? Or is my measurement off?

Thanks!

Hi,
Know this is a old thread but hope somebody can help me with my issue.

My M Performance exhaust is being delivered with the mid pipe aswell. Is there also size different between 328I and 320I at the beginning of the midpipe where it is going to be attached to the downpipe?

If so, what is the solution to make this fit?

Believe there is a front pipe in between the midpipe and downpipe. The front pipes (20i and 28i) have different parts number but the clamp (part number 18308632361) is the same. Probably need a clamping bush from 28i.

I am looking to swop a stock 28i midpipe over to 20i, on he assumption that it will increase power? Anyone knows?

But it goes between the correctly cut exhaust pipe (60,2mm) and the pipe coming from the exhaust (75mm). You can (barely) see it in the below picture where the red circle is.

The other picture is a screen shot from the Remus page descriping the adapter, which is 10cm long.

I will try to borrow friends GoPro next week to take a sound clip but I think it is pretty much the same as in the 328i you can see in this thread. Actually I think it might a bit quieter due to the exhaust pipe being a bit smaller diameter and probably the muffler in the pipe is bit more restricting.

It would interesting to find out if the whole exhaust pipe could be changed all the way from the downpipe to the exhaust with the 328i or an aftermarket pipe.

@jcastle

I stand corrected. I've measured the 320i exhaust / midpipe and the OD is indeed 60,2 - 60,3 MM.

The 328i exhaust is as you say 75MM OD (Outer Diameter) which is correct and has an ID (Inside Diameter) of 70MM.

I think, and which I'm going to try, is that you can order a reducer with below specs:

Name: remus.png
Views: 2145
Size: 43.1 KB

Explaining:
  • A with ID (Inside Diameter) of 60,3MM will fit OVER 60,2MM OD (Outside Diameter) of 320i midpipe / exhaust side
  • B with OD (Outside Diameter) of 70MM will fit IN 70MM ID (Inside Diameter) of 328i exhaust (OD=75MM / ID=70MM).

I think I mainly explained it for myself, because my head was spinning with ID/OD.

Does anyone happen to have a muffler delete + catless on the N20 320i/328i or have any experience with it? Would be great to hear the sound, even better if you have a tune! I'm currently catless with the magnaflow muffler and might take the whole muffler off and add a vibrant res in replacement.

You will probably notice no gains or losses with adding just an cat-back exhaust from a daily driving perspective, it will just sound different.

If you remember Porsche originally tuned the 930 by size of the exhaust system, which I suspect is why BMW put a smaller exhaust pipe on the 320 when compared to the 328. The biggest gain you will have will be replacing the downpipe, it will reduce the back pressure on the turbo and reduce the egt's (exhaust gas temps) and as a result it will help protect your engine and turbo from potential damage.

That sounds exactly like what I want. I just had my catless dp installed today and wanting it to sound a bit more "nicer" like this if that makes sense.

Borla Exhaust on a Xdrive 428i

I'm wondering if any one has installed the Borla Cat Back Exhaust S Type Series (140509) on a 328i or a 428i Xdrive. What were the modifications you had to do to make the exhaust system work? I have a 2014 428i Xdrive with a n20 downpipe.
