F30 genuine m sport rear spoiler fitting

Just got a genuine real spoiler for my 2016 335d. I don't want to install it permanently with beta link, just want to use automotive grade 3m tape so I can get it off when needed. If any of you have fitted one before, would love some tips on tape position etc. Can't see anything online. It's not the carbon fiber one. Matt black.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Use 3M VHB tape, clean the surfaces thoroughly with alcohol and then prime both surfaces with 3M Primer 94.

Position spoiler on boot and use strips of masking tape to keep the front edge in place then start peeling the tape backing from under the spoiler, with the spoiler still in the correct position. Then press down hard along the whole length of the spoiler, then either place weights or use tape to hold spoiler down for a couple of hours to allow the tape to fully bond.

Thanks for this. Appreciate it. Was also wanting to know how much tape to put on and the position of the tape. For eg. Just on the flat parts or the back of the spoiler too. Thanks.

The spoiler has an indent section, put a strip along inside each edge of that.

Same as. I bought some 3M tape 8mm wide and just ran it all around the spoiler where the idents are. Clean the boot area with alcohol and also If you can warm up the area with the heat gun or hairdryer to promote better adhesiveness.

Mines been on for over a year with no hassle

If it helps I used a mix of water and isopropyl alcohol to wet the area first. Allows you to make a few minor adjustments prior to final positioning. But of heat soon dissipates the mix

I'm told you should especially weight the ends as otherwise they have been known to not stick as well.
On the flip side what reason are you not just sticking it with glue, are you really going to remove it and sell separate or is it because it's lease etc?

8mm or 10mm max I'd say. 1.1mm thick.

Doesn’t affect adhesion as your not wiping it off. Do an alcohol water mix and it gives enough surface mobility to allow a bit of fine tuning as to the spoilers final position. Once in place allow the mix to evaporate using heat if necessary and the jobs a good one.

Used this method on my rear spoiler and it’s still there 5 years later.

Surely it removes the Primer 94 though?

Didn’t use any primer on the boot lid. The kit I bought (from Taiwan I think) came with a tube of primer which I applied to the spoiler underside prior to tape application as it seemed absorbent

On the boot lid I simply cleaned thoroughly using neat isopropyl.

Tbh I didn’t realise you should prime the boot lid surface.

Make sure you get some genuine 3m VHB tape. I bought some off eBay for fitting number plates and would hate to have a spoiler fitted with them as it wouldn't stay on that's for sure.
