F32 jb4 stage 2
i've just installed the jb4 stage 2 on my F32
1. i can feel a little increase in power 2. on 2nd gear power band had a delay at 5500 rpm 3. using my sports display power and torque still peaked out at 300hp/tq The shop told me that the car needs time to learn the new programming Any thoughts?? |

your sports display will not change, that would require a reflash of the ecu which isnt possible.
was your car up to temp when you tried it? i know the jb4 is not activated until you are up to temp. the only other thing i can think of is confirm that you are on a MAP. its possible its not on 1. It looks like 1 is supposed to be default though so you should be good. Last edited by cryptz; 09-08-2014 at 03:56 PM.. |

The car does need time to adapt.
That being said just do a datalog and we can see how the JB4 is performing

It's defaulted to map 1. When you do the last map hung it should blink once telling you that you went back to map 1. Also, easiest way to figure things out is to hook up your lap top and check things out. Run some logs, etc. it will show you where you're boost is among other things.

@betlion, do make sure that you are on the latest firmware and not map 0.
Are you in SoCal? I can help checking the whole thing for you if you are in SoCal.

The car definitely needs time to adapt to the jb4. It sounds weird & you are probably thinking why if it's just a chip. But there is a lot more to it than that.

Just put my JB4 stage 2 in on Tues, the dealer installed it and set it to Map 5, the auto tune map. Ass dyno seems to notice and like the improvement. Car feels great and is way more responsive even in regular drive mode. I'm running the car with drop in filter and MPE, that's it.

I have a 335i Xdrive, 8-speed auto, dealer set it to map 5 with updated firmware.
Car feels badass, is this a bad thing? should it be on map 1? I am running with 93 octane, if that makes any difference. I can feel it learning and adjusting to my dickhead driving habits. |

You can change the map by holding down the - (minus) button for 5 seconds, according to his video and can confirm the actual map you are on with your lap top plugged in.

Since the JB4 is pretty much your only mod, you're likely best off on Map 1. Consult with the BMS guys on n54tech, but Map 5 is likely adjusting down to lower levels since you have no other mods, even on 93 octane.

If you are concerned with the aggressiveness of a map or just want to see how it's performing, run a datalog. Datalogs should actually be done anyway when you first get a tune.
Running map 5 may result in the same boost pressures as map 1 so you can't go wrong eitherway but some may feel one map "Feels" a bit better then the other. The datalogs will tell the story on why. |

You can come by to my shop at Baldwin Park, CA. About 2 hours away from you and I can help check them for you.
But, if you have the USB cable to connect a laptop to the JB4, then you can check your firmware version and update it if it not the latest. Map 5 is Self-Learning mode. You need to do a few WOT (Wide Open Throttle) run on a few gear I believe to maximize the output. Otherwise, Map 1 or Map 2 (if you have some mods) would be best to run as they are pre-configured by BMS based on their research in house. I do suggest you to get the USB cable if your car a 6MT. Because there is no way for you to know whether your JB4 is on or off with 6MT.
