3.82s 0-60mph

Quite ridiculous acceleration. That means it'd beat an F80 to 60. Shame it's pig ugly. BMW have lost the plot on a car(3 coupe/4 series) that they traditionally nail every time.

It’s actually starting to grow on me - in the flesh it looks great

That rear quarter panel is shocking. Even the front is better than the side profile. It's only the rear of the car that looks even half decent to me.

I agree the rear quarters viewed side on is very ‘weak’ looking. It actually makes the wheel look small by its overly bloated, but slab sided blandness?
The grille at least is different.
So wish I had specced saddle brown or equivalent in mine, it does look good from images in the Autocar review.

Crazy, the m340i touring they had did it in 4.1.

While its grown on me it never will look amazing and is really colour dependent on how good it looks. I don't like the wheels either.

Nice. I'd probably have an A45S I've this. Grill looks ok on the M3/4 but with the Cerium Grey it stands out a lot more and doesn't have M bits elsewhere to highlight

I honestly don't think the grill is the main problem. Front end is "ok". That side profile is very lazy design though, they could have done so much more with it and the rear quarter panel is nothing more than a plain piece of painted metal!

That's faster than the quoted figures for RS4 and same as RS5..... rapid...

Agreed its not the front that is the problem, the side profile is awful around rear three quarter.

that is a mentally fast 0-60. My X3M was 3.66s and, ok its a little heavier, but +130hp!

car world is crazy just now!

From the A-pillar backwards it looks suspiciously like a Merc to my eyes.

The C Class Coupe at least has a nice crease going all the way to the rear lights, this has nothing.

I really like but they've got so expensive now.

For the same monthly I'm paying for my 440i GC with M Sport Plus, adaptive suspension, digital cockpit and folding mirrors on 20k a year,I can now only get a 420i with no options on 8k a year. I know it's a new model but I'm not going from a 440i to 420i for the same money!

I think the new 4 series looks great.

I can never understand why everyone gets so worked up about 0 to 60 times, does anyone actually drive like that from a standing start.

I think 30 to 70 times highlight a cars performance much better.

Give it 6 months and I suspect the 25% plus discounts will start to appear.

No-ones really getting worked up now are they? But 3.8s was mightily impressive for a supercar only a few years ago yet here we have a 2nd from top spec of a mainstream manufacturers core model doing it. I would suspect there's a little more than 374hp on tap here.

I do apologise. I wasnt actually referring to your post but 0 to 60 times in general seem slightly pointless

BMW tend to underestimate their power outputs but I think it is the 4wd that will mainly be responsible for times like the F80.

Well I suspect that just about sums up the relevance of 0 to 60 times.

I hope the new A45s is a darn site better than the A45 I had back in 2014, I only kept it 2 weeks, a bloody awful contraption.

That's an impressive 0-60 time! Still genuinely one of the worst looking cars I've seen though!

A 600hp M5 does it in 3.6s, a 617hp M5C in about 3.4s. I think its becoming a bit silly, it doesnt make them great driving cars in the real world (if anything the M5 was too fast, I'd put my foot down gently as I thought and have to brake so I didnt hit the Golf R or whatever in front!)

I'd take a good car to drive over a very fast car any day .... its about the fun not the speed!
