M Performance Exhaust Tip for my 320?

Purely for cosmetic reasons, I'd like to replace my OEM factory tip with something like this. This is a single genuine M Performance exhaust tip. I think it would look really nice, and a definite improvement over the plain Jane OEM peashooter tip that is on there now. What do you guys think? I don't want to rice out my car at all but that factory single tip is pretty weak and I think this would be a nice improvement visually.

What do you guys think? Thoughts on install? I mean, $110... why not?

I'd rather have the black chrome ones , not necessarily M perf but look nice too.

That's not a genuine M performance part.

Ah yes, Akrapovic.. Well anyway, still a pretty nice visual upgrade to the existing OEM one, in my opinion. Any thoughts on install of this? Would the original have to be cut off and this one welded on or does the hose clamp etc. imply it just goes over the existing? Noob question I know but Ive never messed with exhaust tips.

My mistake. Apparently BMW did source parts from Akrapovic for their M5 Performance exhaust. Since this is for an M5, I think you will need to do some modification to your exhaust pipe to get this one to fit as I'm sure the M5 has larger exhaust piping. I think any muffler shop should be able to do the work though.

Yeah, shouldn't be too difficult. End of the day, I think it could look pretty clean. So the auction is 'make an offer'. Whats reasonable? He is on a 21 day auction and I don't think this is exactly in high demand so he'd prob be happy to sell it. $75?

Getbmwparts is selling it for $236, so I'd say he already has a fair price. But like you said it's probably not in high demand so I'd offer $90.

Offered $75 and they accepted, so a pretty good deal IMO. Should get it by end of the week. Going to go to The M Shop in Eagle Rock which is close to my house. I'd rather have it done at a shop that deals only with BMW's, to make sure the aesthetic is perfect. If they won't do it I'm sure they could recommend a solid muffler shop. There are a bunch of muffler shops 1/4 mile from my house but I want it done right. I'll post pics when its done.

Yeah, I'm excited. I spoke with Joe at The M Shop about it and he recommended a muffler place that he says he worked with and referred people to for 10 years. Says they'll be able to do a nice job with it for not much $. When he mentioned the name, it just so happened to be the place we took my wife's Matrix to to get her catalytic converter replaced. They did a great job on her car and it was cheap. Should get the part by the end of the week and I'll go in next next week to get it done.

Went by this muffler place today to show the guy the M tip I got that I want to swap out. Since the inner diameter of the new tip is 3" and the outer is 3.5, and since the diameter of the OEM pipe from the muffler is 2.6 or so, he's going to weld an adaptor that tapers out which the new tip can be clamped to and the job should take about 30 minutes and will run me $35. The place comes highly recommended and he says it will be very clean, the tip will extend out no farther from the bumper than the OE one does and there will be about 1/4" on either side since the inlet is a little over 4" wide. The M tip is a really nice piece, much nicer than what is on there now and the fact that is a BMW part etc. and not some magnaflow or something keeps it consistent. Obviously keeping the OEM tip etc. should I decide to turn the car in at lease end, it should cost another $35 or so in 3 years to put it back to stock look. Pics coming soon I hope.

No need to return the tip to stock on lease term...

Looks great, fills the space nicely. Did you get any extra WHP because of it?

Thinking about calling it a day with this and going back to the OEM exhaust tip. It's starting to look a tad ricey to me. Seems a little too big and it's a hair off center. To really get it right as far as fit, spacing etc. it'd have to be welded on. Prob just going to have the OEM tip welded back on. I don't care anymore. Was with my friend shopping for 3 series the other day and came up on a mineral gray 320 on their lot from behind and the OEM single looked fine to me. Over it.
