420d GC exhaust rattle
I'm having an issue with my 20d in that when driving the other day I noticed that accelerating from 1700rpm ish to 2000rpm there is a vibration / rattle noise that can be heard with the windows down , with the windows up it's less noisy but the vibration sounds more like if the AC fans where ramping up and down in tune with my accelerator across the above rev range . Any way got under the car and it does sound like it could be the exhaust ( see attached video ) has anyone had this specific issue on a 420d ( I've seen petrol motors with blame being laid on VANOS seals etc but nothing for the 20d) . Just keen to understand what to look out for once I get it on the ramps .
Also I noticed my flexi coupling around the DPF is slightly warn .... not sure if that could be cashing the noise ? |

could be a broken baffle in your resonator if you're sure its coming from the exhaust

I'm not 100% sure it's coming from the exhaust , it sounds like it's coming more from engine end , I suppose I was looking for some more suggestions as to what it could be ? Had it up on the ramps yesterday and was told it could be the flexi or the heat shield around the exhaust manifold . Open to any suggestions , with the car only just ticking over 54,000 miles It's early days for most components surely ...
