I've used these folks ( http://www.radar-mirror.com/Beltronics.html )for 2 stealth installs on a 99 540 Sport and 08 335i Sport. Love their work and no issues.

You should hardwire it, use a non metallic tint strip and mount it as high and center as possible behind the tint strip. You should also run it in dark mode relying on the audio alerts.

So i just placed the radar detector on the center dash. I got 3 alarms. 1 at a school x band. 1 when i always pass this guys house x band. And one ka band. I am assuming these r false alarms. No cops. I drove past a cop but the detector didnt go off. So he must of had the radar off or has a laser in the vehicle?

Would placing it on the dash be alright?

X band alarms are set off all the time from stupid shit like radar speed signs and blind spot monitors. I turned mine off since cops out here only use KA or LIDAR.

And there is really no reliable defense against LIDAR.

My Blinders have worked every single time.

I would recommend a custom install where the heads are mounted in the grill. If you aren't allowed to have them in your state, this is the best option. Police will usually see them unless you take it off your mirror when you get pulled over.

As to the other point, Ka band is ALWAYS a cop. You may not always see him, he could be around a corner or quite far away. But in my experience, Ka freqs are only used by police radar.

I hope it's VG-2 undetectable as they use that in Ontario (mostly the OPP, but also some local police departments) to catch people with radar detectors.

Neither VG-2 nor the newer Spectre system can detect the Beltronics STiR Plus/Passport 9500ci.

Besides, I don't think the Ontario police could pick up my radar detector in Northern California, where it's legal. Even if they could, there would be some jurisdictional issues if they wanted to bust me for it.
