Hope yours works fine, make sure to check it works before buttoning everything up again!

Mine is an 8.8" screen so should operate without an issue. I am waiting for their technical support to get back to me after they speak to their warehouse. I am not sure what they suspect, both the box and the interface unit itself have stickers on them with the "EVO" tag.

Mine works like a charm and it is just perfect for now.

The unit is fast at startup (10 second at maximum, just after oem idrive), wireless androidauto works automagically at startup once paired, steering wheel controls works even with voice assistant key (long press google assistant, short press bmw voice command) and audio quality is much better compared to my old chinese android unit.

Idrive knob just works and androidauto brings on the keyboard automatically on the phone when an input field is selected (very useful if voice can't get instructions correctly).

It looks for ispboot.bin update, so it's based on new hardware revision from andream imho.

I'm very happy with mine, and very sorry yours doesn't work, did you double checked all connections?

Great to see yours working!

Yeap, connections are fine on mine, I sent them pictures etc and they're happy with them. I checked for any pin pushback, spread terminals etc on the connectors and they are all OK. I didn't expect to find anything as the idrive side works fine so the unit receives power and ground without an issue and the LVDS connections are ok. It's just the interface side that's not working which to me points to an internal issue. The WiFi is also broadcasted so I can say that the wireless section of it works ok too. I am not sure how their board is laid out, I'm hoping they are taking a look to see what could cause this as to me it sounds like a h/w issue.

so why is the bimmertech unit double the price?
is there any difference between that, and say, this one offered by TA Automotive upgrades?

https://www.taautoupgrades.com/produ...ay-carplay-box

for £265.

or even the andream version on their .de website, for similar price.

https://www.android-car-dvd.de/colle...34628190404741

Is the bimmertech unit more pricey because they run their own firmware? or use andream firmeware as a base and make their own refinements?

I think the answer is yes about their firmware, given the name of the updates it expects. But It's just a guess. Unfortunately I dont know anything more, maybe when an updates come we will be able to compare firmware structures between new andream evo unit and bimmertech to see the real similarities.

But I'll guess bimmertech has locked their firmware to their particular hardware (we already saw this on older units)

The main differences between Bimmertech and the other sellers is their customer service and support. They seem to be much more responsive and have even worked with indivudual buyers to address and resolve firmware bugs.

In regard to the firmware, your experience using Carplay will be very much the same across all of the units.

However if you use Android Auto, Bimmertech has done a better job than most if not all of the sellers. The key AA features that Bimmertech's firmware offers that others don't is auto-launch and automatic night mode switching based on whether or not the headlights are on. They were also the first to allow call routing via the oem bluetooth connection and adding AA widescreen support. But it seems that the other sellers have now all also added these features.

Well first reason why it is more, you aren’t relying on some randoms on an Internet forum to fix your problems and provide custom firmware that still often have issues compared to Bimmertech.

With Black Friday it was only $250 more not double. My carlinkit from Amazon I paid $320 and when it bricked on a firmware update which a few others had happen as well, cost me $15 for the return. That and 6 hrs of frustration and wasted time trying to get the latest firmware installed to fix the issues the Andream and carlinkit don’t come with.

So buy whatever you want, means nothing to most people. Just be prepared to know it will need firmware updates and likely a custom version to get it working the way it should. And their support sucks with other units. Why Amazon is great. You have 30 days to send it back no questions if something goes wrong.

Wish we could do a factory reset and had tools to put clean images and start over with the other units. I would have kept mine and just tried updating again, but no bueno!

Not yet, I'll let you know how I get on. I spoke to Bimmertech today (fair play to them, they called me on my mobile) and they will send me another unit ASAP.

Beware andream

Been battling ANDREAM for a refund after a screen showed delivered but nothing arrived. Having a hard time with ANDREAM to do the right thing and refund me the amount.

they are giving me the run around non stop. Poor communication and not supporting the product. I will be posting the text and emails from them. BUYER BEWARE>

floc So if I understand correctly you installed the MMI Prime for NBT EVO, can you explain how it works for the sound ? I got aux port in the armrest, same as you, so did you connect the mmi box with a cable to this aux port in this armrest ?

I'm thinking about ordering the MMI prime but I'm really unclear about this aux stuff.

It doesn't use the Aux input in the armrest (3.5 jack) but the front aux input in the quadlock connector at the back of the headunit.

100% confirmed

If you have aux in armrest you already have aux in quadlock and coded as well.

I upgraded from a 6.5" screen to an 8.8" screen and noticed that the AA maps and icons in the widescreen format were very small and hard to read, etc. I've been playing around with the firmware config file and settled on this:

Just got MMI Prime and also has problems with DPI on 8.8'' screen. Support didn't responded with something meaningful.

Is it for Andream's MMI or Bimmertech's? Do you edit .bin file and flash with it or there is a way to change it on the fly?
