New BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe Renders

The first 4 Series model has been revealed in the form of the 4 Series Coupe and it will eventually be joined by the Convertible and a 4 Series Gran Coupe (F36) variant.

The Coupe begins production this July, while the Convertible begins later this year in November. The 4 Series Gran Coupe will debut next year, with production possibly by late 2014 - early 2015.

With the reveal of the 4 Series Coupe, some digital artists have taken to photoshop for some new Gran Coupe renders. As you can see from the renders and spy photos below, the 4 Series Gran Coupe, like the 6 Series Gran Coupe, will be a 4-door version of the Coupe model and feature a longer stretched out roofline.

The Gran Coupe will largely feature the same model and engine lineup as the just revealed Coupe, although it's possible that the 4 Series Gran Coupe may debut with a new engine succeeding the current turbo inline 6 cylinder N55 motor.

The 4 Series Gran Coupe will be positioned and priced in the 3/4 Series lineup just as the 6 Series Gran Coupe is positioned in the 5/6 Series lineup (in between the coupe and convertible models).

We should also expect an M4 Gran Coupe model down the line.

Once the 4 Series Gran Coupe joins the lineup, this is how the 3 Series / 4 Series lineup will look:

• F30 3 Series Sedan
• F31 3 Series Touring
• F32 4 Series Coupe
• F33 4 Series Convertible
• F34 3 Series (GT) Gran Touring
• F35 3 Series Long Wheelbase (China only)
• F36 4 Series Gran Coupe

You also forgot about all of the convertible models for those that apply along with the x1-x6, i1-i8, z4 and all of their different submodels.

In my opinion, BMW is over saturating themselves with models. Don't know if that is a good or bad thing yet.

4er GC is what the 5er should have been

it follows that the 2er GC (when it arrives) will be what the 3er should have been.

Nice! Love that roofline. I would be all over an M4 Gran Coupe in the future...

On a different note, I'm sorry to nit pick, but I can't help it...so many people on the forum mistakenly use the word "render" or "renders" when they mean "rendering" or "renderings." "Render" is a verb, "rendering" is the correct noun to use in this case.

The heading should read: "New BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe Renderings"

Getting ahead of myself and a little off topic, but are we going to get a 2 series gran coupe? Something to rival the mercedes cla?

If you think about it, BMW had too many engine configurations in the previous gen models. Take the 3er for instance...

it had about 6; i.e. 320i, 323i, 325i, 328i, 330i, 335i;

compare that to now with only 4; 316i, 320i, 328i, 335i;

...considering that was only on the petrol sedans, I don't all these new models will do any more harm(if any) than the previous gen 3er. I think the only differentiator here would be the looks, that might get confusing to the non BMW fans. But then again every other brand is doing the same; Merc, Audi, + the rest!

Completely agree. This looks much better than the F30. Unless the savings between the F30 and the 4er GC are massive, (which they won't be), it leaves people with little reason to pick the F30.

I think its the other way around. By Comparison to the 4er GC, its the F30 that's funny looking. Not the other way around.

This....Why in the hell do this? This car known as the 4 series coupe is nothing but a glorified 3 series. Really....So we will have a 4 series sedan and 3 series sedan that look identical on the inside. There is not enough difference between the 3er and 4er to justify. Just plain ridiculous....

I would think that the 4GC would be much more expensive than the F30 and that it would significantly affect peoples' decisions.
