Got the car back in December, drove it for 2 days and all was fine with the rattling sound gone. The high pressure fuel injectors (not changed) are still noisy but at normal level. On day 2 evening upon medium acceleration the engine starts to rattle between 2-5000 rpm and I can reproduce the rattle at standstill by revving the engine. I bring the car back to the dealer next morning and they run all their electronic diagnostics and finds nothing. Removes the oilfilter and finds metal particles in the oil…………….I have not heard back from them since they reopened after the holidays…………

The dealer had initially suggested a new engine to the insurance company but it was about $1000 more economical to do the initial repair to the top end so that is what they instructed the dealer to do.

My worry now is that the top end repair costs have almost reached the maximum amount covered in the insurance policy and I as the consumer get caught between the dealer and the insurance company.

Fingers crossed……….

if they found metal particles in the filter that is a serious problem.

Just a note on the subject: to qualify for "Open heart surgery" the engine should be running. This fits "heart autopsy".

Is a remanufactured engine? I hope that this will be the end of your issues.

They stop the heart to do open heart surgery and pump blood through a machine during the surgery.
