Where are you guys finding them for sub $2000? PM me if you have any details. I've been thinking about this but I can't justify it for over $2000.

These are the part numbers I have in my records:
M Performance LSD
33108659987 - new part
33107555610 - old part

It's the $100 Harbor Freight transmission jack, it works surprisingly well for diff and tranny.

prices for the auto version have just bottomed out, at $490ish, AAAAND it appears you absolutely can put the auto version into 6MTs with the only difference being a slight gear ratio change.

There is a bunch of us 6MTs about to do this, as the manual version is still $2100.

That's too much even for the dealer rate. It's 2-3 hours of labor for a dealer.
I found a performance shop in Dallas that will install an M Performance helical LSD and upgraded bushings for $3000 total. I'm going with that.

What's the shop name? I could be looking for some suspension mods in the future and I'm in Dallas too.

Cedar Performance. They haven't done any work for me yet, but they have been super helpful. They found a stock diff to put the LSD in for me, so we can minimize the down time. Seem like really good dudes.

I thought it was confirmed the auto diff didn't work in the manual due to the drive shafts being different?

Ouch. I was kicking myself for not ordering one for my 6MT, but I guess I lucked out. Then again, if it's just a length issue it might still be worth it to just get a custom driveshaft modification.

I bet selling auto LSDs though on the open market will be much harder than selling the manual LSDs.

Thanks, I thought that was going to be your answer. I haven't used them yet but others have recommended them on this forum.

I was most concerned with the tool required to pop out the half shafts. I was able to accomplish this by duct taping some wood blocks to the diff and using two pry bars in the narrow slot of the shaft to pop them out. My craftsmen pry bar fit perfectly but i did have to file down the harbor freight pry bar a bit to get it to fit. (Pic 1 & 3)

The only other issue was the left shaft needed to be popped out to get an extension to the rear bolt of the housing. (Pic 2) I have more pics but on mobile I can only attach without control of order.
How did you get the axle shaft back into the rear differential?
I replaced the circlips and then used a rubber mallet to hammer them back in being careful not to rip the boot. They went in easy.

Once in you can grab by hand and pull hard back and forth to confirm they are fully in with circlips engaged.
Did you put anything on the driveshaft nut? It talks about drying time but did not see anything in the box to add to the nut.

I just ordered one for $650. ECS rep said it will fit an Auto trans 435i F33, should I worry that the "Does this fit my vehicle" selector says it wont fit?

Should I do the differential mounts while I’m in there?

Was just quoted 5.5 hours for $750. Talked them down to $550. Mentioned people on here are doing it in 2 hours. Then again I have an F33, so maybe it's more complicated?

Either way cars getting dropped off Monday. Staying with the stock differential mounts I guess

Quote was from the local dealership. Tried a second shop who said he could only do $650.

I didn't want to go with the aluminum delrin mounts & possibly deal with undo harshness as this is my DD, so opted to go with the Powerflex Urethane Rear Diff Front Bushing Inserts (Yellow) from BimmerWorld for $64...

My install was done by my local INDY that does any/all work on my cars that I don't feel like doing- all in for $300 (they had the special BMW tools) don't know how long it actually took them - dropped the car off 1st thing in AM, picked it up @ 4PM

Should have prolly had them do the subframe inserts at least also, but I didn't have them & was anxious to get the diff installed

Should I postpone the install and get the subframe and mount bushings?
