Maybe when I am a really old man those lips and the G20 grill may finally tempt me.

The angel eyes were iconic and defined BMWs for quite a while - if you saw those in the distance you always knew it was some model of BMW coming the other way, and I always thought this was a good thing, gave the car a strong identity. This was unlike Audi for example who tried every single shape imaginable for their DRLs. Even Mercedes has messed around with different DRL designs.

Dumping the iconic 'angel eyes' in the G20 was a mistake imho, and the two I've seen in the wild looked like VW Golfs when they were at a distance. Still, I'm assuming BMW know best - wonder if they'll dump the Hofmeister kink next?

I read a few years ago that BMW thought this over for some time. Ultimately everyone (especially VW) was emulating their halo lights so they moved onto the semi hexagaons.

Sad times. Should have just kept with it.

LCI might improve things.
I never got used to the "eyebrows" on the E90/91 grilles. I lived with them for over 6-years on my E91, but every time I see them (even now), I think the same thing, "you got it wrong BMW". BMW knew it too, the E92 and later LCI models with conventional grilles corrected the error and look right.

If LCI models are a clue to the future, look at the 7-series, grilles are even bigger! Now as brash as they can be, embarrassingly huge. Latest 1-series pictures show the design theme is getting worse, not better.

I don't mind the 7 and quite like the X5/X7 grilles, but can't get on with the huge black plastic lump on the front of the G20 in certain colours.

Like Pete, the eyebrow E90 look never gelled with me, but the LCI was a great fix. I've also never liked the bonnet line slash on the F3x but it's better hidden with dark colours and works better on F32/6 due to the wider look of those models.

My take on the halo/angel lights is that BMW moved to single headlamp units with the E38/9/6 generations but wanted to keep a link to the traditional twin head lamp design whilst still moving with the times.

I think the halo lights successfully kept that BMW look but with a modern twist, I think they have again wanted to move on but lost quite a bit of that link back to the classic twin headlamp design.

Just seen the G20 in multiple colours with black and chrome grille at dealers. Prefer the black personally.

The interior is a step up on the F30, but that would be expected. Not as much of an improvement as the E90 to F30 though and seems more progression than game changing.

A good car, but having looked and sat in it, it doesn't make the case to upgrade early....

There’s a dealer selling a set of 791m wheels with Pirelli p zero tyres for the g20, for £1000 on the f3x Facebook group if anyone’s interested, they’ve just covered delivery miles
