Mid pipe installation

I'm getting a Dinan mid pipe and intake installed on my 440i, the dealer quoted me for 530(300 for mid pipe and 230 for intake) for both, is that a reasonable price? I was thinking getting the mid pipe installed and the intake seems pretty easy on youtube, not sure if I need dealer to do that job but I definitely dont have the knowledge and tool to do the mid pipe.

install the intake yourself and find a Midas or Meineke shop to do the midpipe. Shouldn't cost more than $120 bucks to have them do that. The intake is a 15-20 minute job and the midpipe could be done in about 45 minutes. Even if they charged $100 per hour you shouldnt pay more than $200 plus tax to have both installed.

oh nice. My car is stocked with M performance exhaust, it gives a little burble when letting off the gas, will the mid pipe add more aggressive burble?

Yup you'll get more..
Edit: if you already have m perf exhaust then what's the need for midpipes? The m perf exhaust deletes the resonators, no?

The performance exhaust is just the muffler, the MPPSK is straight piped without the resonator.

Can someone confirm me that M performance exhaust is just the muffler and MPPSK will straight pipe the who exhaust system?
Also does anyone have M performance exhaust with any mid pipe? How much difference will the mid pipe add?

If it was purchased as a kit it should be the whole thing, full exhaust plus the tune. Not many people run the m perf muffler only, unless you buy used from another member.

I bought this car as used. It’s was only purchased as M performance exhaust says on the window sticker which cost 1750 instead of 2950 which is the whole kit.

Ah.. Had no idea it could be split up, always thought it was all or nothing. You could always look under the car to verify whether the resonators are present. With the midpipes and your m perf muffler your car will sound good

Of course when I asked the dealer if mid pipe void warranty they said not if I get it installed at a BMW shop.

The midpipe is after the catalytic converters. There is no way having a midpipe could possibly void anything realistically. All you're essentially doing is removing the resonators

If they didn't cover a motor being blown because they said you had a midpipe installed you could refer them to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty act. They can't deny a legitimate failure under warranty for something that is entirely unrelated to the issue
