Best Oil for 320ed N47T
Good evening,
I've been researching the forums and trying to understand engine oils. I'm going to have a go at servicing my car soon. It's due in 5000 miles and I'm afraid of the dealer quote.... What's the best oil to use? I don't understand the various grades or groups and whether or not an oil is BMW spec. Can anyone help a noob? Normally I'd just input the reg into eurocarparts and see what it throws up but I want to be a bit more careful this time. I have a 2015 320 efficient dynamics with 71k. Thanks (again)!! James |

Phone up Opie oils.co.uk. as an engineer, I fully recommend Fuchs fully synthetic oil, and either 5w30 or 5w40 grade. Opie will be able to advise you on your choice and how much for fill, but I would buy in bulk for 3 or 4 changes. This will probably work out to be by far the cheapest option.
I use Fuchs xtl 5w40 fully synthetic on the 435d. |

Fuchs gt1 xtl 5w40 was the same oil I used on my 320d with n47 engine.
Currently on fuchs gt1 pro c3 5w30 on my 335d but will probably change to the slightly thicker oil after 100k miles. |

You need an oil that meets the BMW LL04 spec, either 0w-30 or 5w-30 are the norm and there are even some 5w-40 out there as well.
All of these are either BMW LL04 approved or happily meet the requirements of https://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-686-bmw...ngine-oil.aspx Cheers, Guy |
