Connected Drive in AU
Hey guys.
I tried to look around... and even tried to talk to BMW chat (not the most helpful). Is it possible to retrofit RTTI or BMW Apps if not purchased from the factory? I thought all AU builds now have the teleservices hardware already installed. I must be mistaken. I don't have RTTI or Apps optioned in my VIN listing. Also, is Office supposed to be standard too? Thanks Feng |

AFAIK there is no hardware for Apps. You need an FSC code though for it to work and you will need someone to add it to your VO. I think the same relates to traffic as well but I have never really looked into it.
Again AFAIK Office is standard with EBT but I could be wrong. It really is almost useless anyway! |

Thanks HFW003. I think I need to read into this whole FSC coding and coding in general.
I quite like Apps though for the Pandora etc streaming but I won't lose sleep if I don't have it. Same with Office... Strange that the Live Chat person said I don't have it listed against my VIN, but I have EBT. Go figure. |

I haven't managed to find the internet browsing (via my mobile phone) option at all ....
Agree that office is pretty average - it doesn't seem to show your calendar ?!? I would assume BMW would love to sell you RTTI - the whole point of connected drive is subscription revenue for them! In the states you can just call them via concierge...? |

So the question is there a way to get that sim installed by the dealer or is it a factory only option ?
From all my research, its a factory only option but if someone has more information do enlighten me. |

From what I read, you should be able to enable apps third party. I think BMW associate the cradle with Apps and not just the software component which is frustrating. Same goes with RTTI etc. I might look into coding and code it myself. Just need to get my head around what FSC means. |

As I metioned earlier you just need to VO code apps into your car, get the FSC code and Robert's your fathers brother. FSC is a code you purchase (in this case from a third party) which you enter into your car to enable access to the required option, in this case apps. |

So to be clear (for myself), I find a 'reseller' of the FSC codes, and get them for Apps, Office, RTTI etc and have someone code it to my car? I assume VO code means cable, laptop, software and switching something on? Sounds simple enough. |

Yeah thats what I was told, I picked up a brand new 328i m sport floor stock december 2013 build with innovations and the sales person said it has "connected drive "... you ring up BMW or email them and they say it does not and needs a sim I am pretty confused. Only thing I really want is remote services.

I logged onto BMW, registered, and it pushed a service message down with the pairing code for the website. If it has SOS/Teleservices, you should have the hardware for Apps etc already. |

You can actually install the FSC code yourself, it actually just goes through the IDrive via USB. You don't need an FSC code for Office. VO code is simply adding optons into the Vehicle Order of your car and to do this you will need the cable, laptop and software it is simple enough. |

This is what I was told via BMW Online chat when I asked if I could subscribe to ConnectedDrive services: "ConnectedDrive options can only be selected before the car is delivered."

What you have to understand is the BMW know nothing about VO coding and all that black magic stuff. I have actually installed BMW Live and Online into my car, you can search and find pics I uploaded when I did it. |

Who would I need to to talk to get an FSC code? I have checked the VIN on the BMW site I have all the hardware in my 328 2014 Build. I would at least like to traffic alerts going. |

Unfortunately, the contact in that thread cannot help with FSC codes other than for maps, which I now believe anyone can make for themselves. Ian, as a starting point if you send Shawnsheridan a PM I will point you in the right direction. Let me know if I can be of any help. H |

Hi H.
I assume this is the right cable? http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-ENET-Eth...-/130731306086 Price is ok for me to get one premade and quality looks pretty good. Edit: Ok so turns out there's quite a few ENET cables on ebay. Most of the US ones are much better build quality. I might just pick one and get it shipped.
