Question about jacking points.
Hi all,
Just a quick question, do I have to use the plastic jacking point inserts before jacking up the car with the jack pad adapter? I apologize if this has been asked already. This is going to be my first time attempting to jack up this car. Thanks in advance for any feedback. |

Yes, you can buy them as cheap as $10 a piece online. Get a few of them. It's cheaper to buy the pads, than it is to have your dealer disassemble the under panels of the car to replace that specific part. A few members have smashed them inward by jacking on them without a pad.

I have had to raise my car several times in the last couple weeks and I used ramps....I have a jack and stands but it is so much easier with the ramps. I've never been a fan of ramps but I have found it now pretty easy and why hassle with the jack stand thing on this car....it's a fuckin pain in the ass. Just sayin.

I bought some rhino ramps at Oreilly on sale for $40. When I did the DP a few weeks ago, my mechanic friend helped me and when he saw the jack and stand situation he agreed, short of a lift, ramps are a better option.

Do you have the msport front bumper? Did the ramps rub your bumper going up?

yeah I do..so, what I do is put two boards on the approach to the ramp...the boards are about a 1/2" thick and no rubbing at all.

Get Rhino ramps from any auto part store. They hold up to 8 tons I believe, and they're made of a very light plastic. I use them when I do oil changes. They're also much longer than standard metal ramps, so there's less immediate incline. I rubbed a few times with metal ramps, but have had no issues with rhino ramps.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ilpage_o08_s00 I'm thinking of ramp it up to put on the front lip. But I think it will have issue clearing the ramp after install when backing down.

I was looking at those too, I'm still deciding at the moment. I think a good set of ramps is invaluable.
I've been looking at raceramps too, a little pricey but look to be worth it. They might work for your front lip install. |

Raceramp is too pricey for me. I don't use it often. If the lip doesn't clear the ramp I would just use the floor jack to put it down.

Are these required? I've jacked my car up a couple times in the last few weeks to change spacers and do a stud conversion. Didn't think I needed something like this.
I hope I didnt cause any damage to the car. |

When I got my car back from the dealer the time before last, they'd mashed the jacking points to the point where my puck wouldn't fit. I took it straight back and they replaced all four. Apparently they don't use the pucks on their lifts!
