any decent brake upgrade over non M for less than 2500$

for now i'm just looking for something larger than 340mm "full front kit" for less than 2600 (ECS/Turner price) which was the cheapest i have found. not interested in chinese parts...

------- edit -----

i just found these d2 which are apparently popular out here in japan and recommended by a bmw friend out this way. found a shop in WY selling for cheaper than the d2 site themselves:

https://www.tpsgaragestore.com/d2-ra...-series-13-up/ 1676$ + shipping for full front kit seems to be the best i can find at the moment; 356mm rotor, 8pot caliper and street pads...?

Cheapest red m-performance brake kit is from ML Performance, in the UK. You'll need to get the 345x24 rear rotors separately, tho.

Idk anything about D2. Maybe you can " take one for the team" and let us know how it works out?

Personally, I'd stick with Brembo or OEM(Brembo) calipers and the lightest 370 rotors you can find.

I've run D2 stuff for years; all made in the same factory in Taiwan alongside BC, K-Sport etc

Never had any issues; ran D2 brakes on a charged DC5 I had until I reverted it back to OEM to sell on... They did a few track days on Anglesey Circuit here in the UK and that's hard on brakes (ran Ferodo DS 3000 pads for track; DS 2500 pads for road)

Zero issues; great braking from cold etc

But personally (and in agreement with alohasurftoad I'd stick with OEM BMW Brembo brakes - get them 2nd hand if you can; get them refurbed and then run whichever discs & pads you want

I built mine from parts.

The parts list is in post 15.

Get the calipers from Ebay. If the fluid doesn't look clean, rebuild them (or have someone else do it for you).

Get rotors and pads to suit your needs.

Consider simply painting your grey Brembo calipers and installing rear 2 piston brembo calipers. There is an abundance of information on this if you search around. The difference between 340mm and 370mm rotors is nigh-irrelevant for non-track use (pad is the same for both).

Find a used set of rear brembo calipers on eBay, Facebook, junkyard, etc. paint them to match your fronts with a specialized caliper paint product. Rebuild if necessary (replacing seals* and/or bleed nipples).

With some elbow grease you can get a mint brake set up for well under $1k.

I've pieced together an OEM "big" brake upgrade. I purchased used parts from eBay/Facebook marketplace and paid a shop $400 to rebuild and paint the calipers. I'm at under $2k on ordering all the parts, rotors, pads, and the rebuild/paint. I needed more parts as I'm coming from base brakes.

Current: 312mm front and 300mm rear (all single-piston floating calipers)
Goal: 370mm front and 345mm rear (4-piston fixed front calipers and 2-piston rear calipers by Brembo)
