How loud is f30 full exhaust

I have a catless dp on now on my 320i and to be honest its very quiet. I want to go full catback with 3” diameter piping but I am worried its going to be insanely loud. Anyone have experience with this? Ive watched a lot of videos but its just so hard to gauge. I live in suburban neighborhood where I just dont know If i can get away with a crazy loud cold start..

Cold starts with no resonator + with an aftermarket muffler are LOUD. If you are able to turn off cold cat heating and not have issues, this will allow your car to warm up slowly while not being a loud car getting to operating temps fast.

It's still loud. It's close to putting 20% throttle for sound. Turn off cold start and it's quiet

Sound is subjective; I think catless with the full exhaust is too loud for a daily driver.

I getting recommend an axle-back instead since you have the catless downpipe.

if your already catless on stock exhaust and it isn't loud enough I would go with an aftermarket axel back first and see how loud that is for you and if you want more sound then get a full catback system or delete the resonator.

But I will say my car on cold starts is decently loud (subjective I know) but loud enough to the point that I cold started at my parents house and my mom said "what did you do to your car this time". My GF said "is your car always this loud when you start it?" lol. im only running stock OEM axel back (M performance exhaust) with high flow cat resonated.

the only reason I hvent fulled the trigger on an axleback is that I dont feel like cutting a hole in the bumper and I kind of want a big single exit…. However, I also want to get the 3” piping from a 328i as I feel like I might be able to get some power out of it too. The 320i has 2.3in diameter piping. Do you think that could make a difference? My car is stage 1.

oh okay, do you think larger diameter piping would make a difference regardless? and if not, are there any good single exit axlebacks on the market worth looking atp

I have a 2016 320i also. I put my catless downpipe yesterday with a rev9 335 style axleback.

Cold starts are loud, but it will last 15-20 seconds. During the day, it's pretty acceptable in my opinion, however if you do a cold start at night, I wouldn't recommend it as it'd be too loud. I might take cold start off with bootmod3 just for this particular reason

On another note, did you have any rattling sound after putting your catless downpipe on your 320?

Nothing that is single which is your desired 3". Unless you are making close to 400 whp, 2.5-2.75" ID is fine for this power level and how much exhaust gas can flow through the stock and upgraded (stage 1, stage 2) turbos.

Custom turbo setups will utilize 3" ID exhaust.

If it's up to me, grab a 335i f30 muffler (stock or aftermarket) and your good to go.

Okay, thanks for the advice. The only issue is id have to cut the bumper or replace the bumper in order to make a dual exit exhaust fit. Too bad there arent any single exit axlebacks out there!!

get an axleback... startup will be loud, just keep your garage door closed if it's not an ideal time of day. I had this setup, it was plenty loud, louder on a 4 banger is just silly.
