Plug hanging from Back of car

Hello everyone. I was walking towards my car today and noticed a plug/cable hanging below the rear bumper on left side of the car. I had a quick look but couldn't tell where it belongs. It's a 2019 F36 430i. My initial thought was that it may be a trailer wire harness but couldn't be sure of that. Your input is appreciated.

Thanks. I guess I will need to crawl under the car to see where it fell from.

do you have an aftermarket exhaust? incase you have an exhaust that doesn't have an exhaust valve, BMW sells dummy plug that you can plug your loose plug into and it clips into an open slot next to the exhaust.

Thank you. I have stock exhaust in a 430i.

If you are not the original owner, perhaps the prior owner wanted it open all the time to be louder. Some owners will pull the plug when the flap is open, so it stays open. This will cause a fault and can be seen by a scan tool, but not sure (I doubt) it will also trigger a CEL.

Another reason someone might have unplugged….the spring that works the exhaust flap with the actuator can become weak and loose, making a loud rattling noise on cold startups.

Thanks to all of you. I am the original owner so no pervious owner to unplug it. I plugged it back yesterday and noticed that it needed a hard push to get the clip to lock in place. So for whatever reason it got unplugged. I did not notice any change in exhaust sound after plugging it back.

The 430i won't make much of a difference either way.
