New Guy

Hello everyone! I just wanted to introduce myself with my first questions for you. I have recently picked up my first 3 series, a 2015 328D in white. So far so good. I have been wrenching on cars, trucks, boats, heavy equipment and planes for a long time so I have a fair amount of experience with diesels and gas engines. That being said this is my first newer European diesel. My question is if I were to delete the egr valve and cooler with a delete kit to block off the exhaust ports and coolant ports can I disable the egr in the ecu via coding or does the ecu need to be tuned via third party? Secondly what would happen if I left the egr valve plugged in and secured out of the way? Would this stop the computer from throwing a error code. I have searched the forum and found very little regarding egr delete and diesels. Thanks for your help.

Need a ECU re-program to do that. Here is a guy that can do the tune for you and sell you the delete parts.

There aren't any US supplied egr physical deletes yet. I think there is one person on here that ordered a kit from Europe and did it. Conversely I had read some reports of engine issues with that physical delete in Europe on the N47 platform. Mine is fully deleted except the egr is only electronically disabled with a JR stage 3. Parts were supplied through the link above.

You've been deleted and tuned for awhile now. How is it going?

I am toying with the idea of getting the delete kit and seeing if I leave the egr valve plugged in if it would throw a code or not. I am looking more for the reliability of deleting than performance. Don't really want to drop over 600 for a reflash, this is crazy how expensive reflash has become.

Yeah. It will. There are temp sensors etc. You will still need a tune to disable all the codes that will result. What I'm waiting to hear back on is if an already deleted car will throw a fit if the egr is physically removed when its already disabled.

It really depends on the knowledge of the tuner. There are many approaches to deleting components, some work well, some cause additional issues or unwanted behaviors.
