Shropshire Bodyshop
Does anyone have any bodyshop recommendations in the Shropshire area. Potentially looking at half a car respray with pearlescent paint.
I'm super fussy as we all are when it comes to paint. This needs to be done correctly 1st time with zero defects ie dust in paint or overspray and perfect colour match. See what supplying dealer calls acceptable below |

Wow that's really bad. I presume the supplying dealer are paying for the respray?

In your position I would head off down the dealers on a Saturday afternoon and start kicking off. There's always trading standards and BMW UK, this is an AUC?

Dealer is 3hours away. It's not a BMW it's a Peugeot 308. Dealer is The Car People Wakefield. When we first saw the car it was dirty and unprepared. Collection was done undercover with cars either side. Didn't help it was dark and wet either |

I don't suppose you have the car on finance and are within the 14day cooling off period? Still worth speaking with trading standards.
What was the agreement you had with the dealer at time of purchase? |

Unfortunately not. Was a cash purchase. Not sure what they can do for us. They said should have been noticed on handover as we didn't not their problem. I only noticed the day after as I washed all the polish off they had left on it. Rang them that afternoon and sent photos over. But still had to chase them. He didn't like it as I basically said how was it missed during your 'quality control check'. I said to him with the lights used in a workshop environment that would stand out a mile off. If you look in their review's on Google. It gives more detail |

Have to agree in so much that driving it off the forecourt without highlighting the issue is acceptance on your part.
Did you know the car had been sprayed before purchase and if not had you asked at the time of sale if the car had been previously involved in an accident or damaged? If you have asked and were lied to then you should have good grounds to reject the car. |

Yes we had asked when doing the paperwork. We brought the car before it had been prepped so at the time not even sure they had seen it. I agree too, but parking it undercover with 6 other cars in a dark raining day doesn't help. Said we'd be happy to go 50/50 but that was shot down with a firm no. I was trying to be reasonable |

I would still give trading standards a call, worst case you will be no further forward. Best case they may get them to sort it for you.
Other than that if you can find another good reason to reject the car you have 30 days from purchase to do so. |

Market Drayton any good? Lee Gasson at Paint Fix 07530669199 Don't expect it done next week - he is perpetually very busy. And he's hopefully doing a bike petrol tank next week for me :-) |

Thanks Mike. I'll give him a call. Do you have any experience of his work? Anywhere that can do it just like that then I'd be very wary off anyway |

Just to update this thread
Email sent 5-10 to the general manager and customer service director / manager. To complain about the service received and that the car should not have been sold like this. Also outlined I'd be taking it further if needed ie trading standards and legally. Had a phone call 6-10 from the general manager. Who couldn't apologise enough. Said if we brought the car back they will do any work needed. So rear bumper and all o/s now being painted. Also met body shop manager who explained the entire process. Which I was happy with as any trim will be removed and wing mirror to avoid any further issues. General Manager is going to check the car over before it's handed back. They know from meeting them I know what I'm talking about and potential issues to look out for |
