330ix F31 LSD possible? New Owner Intro

Hi everyone,

I have prepared to purchase a used F31 330ix for some consolidation of my track car - FIATA(124 SPIDER), and my daily (Fiesta ST) I'm more towards family and not doing 12 track days a year anymore, maybe I'll do 2-4 a year just for fun and giggles. Living in NYC is hard to keep 2 cars going when there are so many other things going on. I have already purchased a set of wheels and tire combo, and coil-overs just waiting for the right 330xi F31 M sport to come by. Still deciding which brake kit to go with.

Always wanted a wagon was disappointed a 6 cylinder wasn't offered but never the less F31 still one of the best-looking wagons out there.
Volvo was a debate but that quickly got thrown out due to the transaxle design and the less than sporty lineup (even r design or polestar was not that great)
Drove the F31 once 330i was not big for power but it is enough for me coming from low-powered cars. Absolutely love the M sport look and how practical it is, boot is larger than the Volvo wagon, yes larger!

I understand the sacrifice for tracking an xdrive but was also hoping if someone can share some insights if anyone is able to fit an LSD inside the rear diff, as I compare part number 328ix and 330ix does have a different rear diff but they look identical, anyone has knowledge on the difference in construction and LSD compatibility please let me know. Down the line car is going to get tuned with more power. 300WHP 3800lbs wagon with AWD is ok, but I would much appreciate it if the car had a mechanical LSD in the rear. Not a big deal just wanted to try to see if anyone has information!

I believe FaRKle! Installed a 335i LSD. I recall some modifications were required. I suggest looking for his threads or posts on it.

Yes it's possible. You need to find an aftermarket LSD (like Wavetrac) that can be retrofitted into your pumpkin or a donor. 330ix has a smaller diff than my 328dx, so my part numbers won't work for you. Diffsonline is a good place to reach out to (they built mine).

328ix and 330ix had different final drive ratios which is why the PNs are different between the two.

Highly recommend Diffsonline as well. I have a Quaife on a 340xi and I really enjoy it. I watched FaRKle!s reviews before buying mine and I found it very informative and accurate.
