HJS Catted Downpipe

I've noticed that the HJS catted downpipes currently being offered for the b58 are all 300 cell. Are there any on the market that are 200 cell? I know Fabspeed makes 200 cell HJS downpipes for the N54/N55, but I chatted with one of their employees today and they said they have nothing out for the m240i. They have the HJS 6 Euro Downpipe for the 340i/440i but that is still 300 cell.

Do you know if the cat is strong enough to last somewhat aggressive burbles? I am not trying to go crazy with the burbles and duration, but want something more than stock.

I've been running it for awhile now. Maybe 15k miles? The stock burbles/pops are much louder than BM3 "OEM" setting. As long as you let the cat warm up before the excessive pops you should be okay.

Okay, that is good to know because I always wait until the engine is up to operating temps before I engage in shenanigans. Also, didn't know stock burbles/pops are louder than BM3 OEM settings.

Also, since you have the CG, have you ever got a CEL?

I only got it once a month or so ago after I had been running Stage 2 since it came out basically. I've cleared it and it hasn't come back on sense. I chalk it up as a red herring (1 CEL in 15k miles). Been running for a couple thousand miles with no DP related CEL codes since. I have full faith in it lasting me awhile.

I'm assuming you can put an O2 spacer on to further guarantee the NO CEL ? (CG DS-1 5" catted)

You can, but it's unnecessary. I've been running CG for over a year with no issues

I also have the CG downpipe and love the sound. I originally put an o2 spacer and it caused all kinds of problems, car was cutting power etc, don't use one. I occasionally get a cel but I believe this is my own fault and need to adjust my o2 sensor. I run mhd stage 2 with moderate burbles and haven't had any issue.

When you say " need to to adjust my o2 sensor " refers to remove the spacer?

Already removed the spacer, much better. But you have some adjustment as to how far into the downpipe the sensor goes. It's not a big deal, like some others have said I occasionally get a cel that I just clear.

I thought it was strange that Fabspeed would resell the DP for the B58 that is made in Europe with the 300 cel cat. Fabspeed stocks the 200 cel HJS cat so it should be cheaper for them to manufacture and sell their own B58 catted DP. There could be several reasons I guess.

We offer CG precision 200 CEL and the Wagner HJS cats 300 CEL.
Both are good options, CG is our most popular one

I went with the HJS 300 CEL catted downpipe and am very happy with it. Noticeable improvement in both performance and sound over the stock DP with the MHD Stage 2 tune and the DINAN mid-pipe. In fact I had to turn cold start off. I liked the HJS because of it being emissions legal and no worries of a CEL.

Thanks @Mike for taking care of me!

I want to get the HJS just waiting on the 200 CEL although the CG or ER Catted are viable alternatives.

I echo this. I have the HJS catted DP (from Mike @extreme power house) with MPPSK exhaust and it sounds great. I had Alex at Mission performance then off cold start though in my stage 2 tune because even though the HJS is the most conservative of them all it is still pretty loud with any type of full exhaust.

Mike, can you give us a run down on the catted downpipes you offer? There's a big difference in price between the AFE Twisted Steel Street pipe and the HJS and Stone Exhaust. Any benefits for the money on the HJS euro or Stone DP vs the AFE? What's the better option, in your opinion?

Thanks!

HJS are the highest quality cats on the market and the most expensive

The biggest benefit from using them is no CEL (even without a tune) and they last for a long time.

Hi,
The 2 brands confirmed to fit on the X3 are VRSF and Evolution Racewerks.

I would not be surprised if CG Precision and Wagner fit as well but we do not know for sure yet

Notice any gains with speed or dyno once the DP was installed?

I can't really say as I only drove it once after installing the DP then I flashed Mission Perf. Stage 2 engine and stage 1 trans tune. I could tell throttle response was slightly improved.
