This is the instruction provided by kri. It will wipe all your data and settings. If you want to keep 1.8.2 you have to use it to do the reset

SD 625 OTA Recovery installation.

If you have issues with your system the most recommended procedure is a complete reset of the System.
Please not this will delete ALL data and installed apps from the system!

To do so you can always use the latest normal OTA Update package from above.
To ensure the update will recognized use a thumbstick not exeeding 32 GB size and format it to FAT32 Filesystem with a Windows PC (MAC`s may format it wrong).
1. Change the OTA Package name to: Ksw-Q-Userdebug_OS_v-ota-reset-data_factory.zip
2. Change the name of the USB flash drive to: _kswota_
3. Copy the OTA Package to a USB flash drive.
4. Connect this USB flash drive to the Android unit.
5. Restart the unit, it will automatically force the upgrade.
6. After the forced upgrade is completed create a folder OEM on your thumbdrive, copy factory_config.xml into it and plug the stick into the device, it will be imported automatically after a reboot.

This procedure may also work doing it blind, connect the thumbstick to the headunit, switch on ignition 2 and wait for about 10 minutes.
If the unit then still does not come up again it is likely broken and needs do be replaced :/

I just made 1920x720 boot animation for all 3 types: NBT, NBT EVO and NBT M. There is no car image at the end, just welcome text over BMW dashboard. Would that be ok for you?

Animation length doesn't matter too much as long as you're not trying to push anything silly as 30min animation that is 700MB in size

I would like to thank everyone who contributed to Kri's new unit. As of this morning it still hasn't left China but it cleared customs already.

As for his old unit, it is getting back to some sort of usability. Screen completely lost its sharpness and clarity, images are ghosting but at least colours are coming back. This should be enough to keep it going as a bench test unit for now.

So with that I would like to thank you all again, it wouldn't be possible with you. I am also announcing closure of this campaign as our main goal has been reached.

Just as a reminder of the tasks...

• Maps:
  For the times I don't feel like using my hotspot, I make it so Waze closes it if it was already open and the Maps.ME is launched with the press of the navigation button in the steering wheel. If the button is pressed again, it closes Maps.ME and opens up Waze and so on and so forth.

• Next, Previous Song:
  What the name indicates. It uses the steering wheel radio button. This way I don't have to start the Music app to get these features.

• Device Boot:
  I use hotspot from my phone and whenever I get in the car it automatically activates (with tasker). For some reason, the android head unit WIFI does not refresh/scan that often, so this task forces a rescan every 2-5 seconds until it connects to the hotspot.
  Again, for some strange reason, the internet entirely dies every now and then even though the hotspot is working and my phone has 4G/LTE. So the way I fix this is by pinging Google's servers every few seconds to make sure the connection hasn't died. If the ping does not work (all 5 packages lost), I turn off and on the WIFI. Once the connection comes back up, it works again.

• Pause Song:
  If the steering wheel radio button is pressed once, it pauses/plays the song. If it is pressed again within 2 seconds, it also turns off the display completely.

Hi unfortunately my themes are not compatible with 1920x720 units at the moment. I could try to scale them up but I don't have 720p unit to test them out... so I would need you to be my test pilot.

As for the root privileges you only need those to push overlay to the system folder. Once that's done root is no longer required. Script made by Kri does exactly that, grants temporary root privileges, installs overlay and that's it. You can also type these adb commands yourself for the exact same result.

This app made by blackDMX is based on the information available to the ksw dashboard. This means that we are limited to:

• RPM

• Speed

• Fuel

• Handbrake

• Seatbelts

• Outside temperature

• Current time

• Car door/boot/bonnet state

Everything else you see is purely cosmetics: there is not gear indicator, traffic signs recognition and map is at the moment static. Car image was done by myself and so far I only did what you can seen on the first page of this thread. At the moment app needs to be compiled with a specific car images as there is no selection menu implemented.

For those of you how want to tinker with head unit on your desk we have now a perfect app to display and control any Android device on your PC or Mac - Scrcpy. For SD625 units it only works over WiFi but on older units it might work with USB A male to USB A male cable.

A friend of mine recently bought a PX6 unit for his BMW Z4 E89 (yeah, he didn't know he should have ordered a SD625 )

I wanted to help him to install KSWOverlay to put his own car in the display and do some translations. But I cannot connect to the unit. Strangely I can ping the unit but as soon as I run the script, I get an error in the CMD which says (see image, but it's in Dutch):

"Can not connect because the destination computer actively refuses the connection" (see screenshot).

Anybody know how to solve?

On my SD625 the script or manually run adb command works flawlessly.

Check in the Android settings if the debug mode is enabled. It should be by default but you never know. This is actually second time when I hear about that, first was unit completely unrelated to us - universal Android unit (RK3399 based) installed in Toyota, but the same issue.

He just checked the settings. USB debug mode is alredy ON (enabled)

Hmm... nothing comes to my mind, but try this tool. Some people said it works better than standard ADB.

Just to let you all know, I didn't stop working on the keyboard Here is an update video showing the latest build. One more thing to implement, translations to other languages to be done (let me know if you want to help with that) and keyboard version 1 will be ready soon
