+1, the notion of making your car less visible at night and your brake and turn signals less visible at all times just doesn't make sense.

Well, your version would likely make yours unique...

Lol actually no. They are not black at all. More of a cherry color. And my tail LEDs are coded to be always on while driving. The darker surrounding actually helps distinguish the LED lines and brake lights more IMO. I thought I was old here but I guess I'm not as old as you or Bill 😅 to have such drastically different visual taste.

I don't think this is a matter of age, but mindset. Check my other car in my signature. I think it is just personal priorities. Of all the mods I've done on my 2 Series (no tinting/deleting of lamps/reflectors), there are none that actually increase the chance of crash. "Do no harm" to others is a personal priority, even from quite young.

I don't look at my tail lights when driving, so what they look like means nothing to me. How they work does, and if the lens is made darker they don't work as well. I switched to LED to make them brighter, and if I could make them even more bright I would. Google the number of accidents the result of being rear ended while waiting to make a left turn. That figure could only be made worse with brake and turn signals that are more difficult to see.

There's also the fact that a good lawyer can turn a rear end accident into your fault because of the tinted lens.

If you use spray tint it will noticeably decrease the lumen output. |

Each state has different laws about how tinted your rear tail lights can be. I like the smoked look personally, but I want to make some performance gains first.
