Rear Windows Won't go down fully
Never realized that my rear windows wont go down fully on 430Xi Gran Coupe.
Is this like standard thing or something can be done?? |

Look at the shape of the rear doors. Why the windows can't go all the way down should be obvious.

Just out of interest... What would the benefit be of a rear window that does go down any further? I will admit when I first opened the windows in my GC I was a little surprised, until I looked at the shape of the window, the shape of the door and..
I struggle to think of any situation where I would need them to open further than they do though. |

Most cars I've owned in the USA have had rear windows that don't go all the way down. Keeps kids from flying out (seriously)...

They're made that way because it's easier than designing everything to allow the windows to roll down all the way. It's not a safety "feature".

Unless there is a window lock,it may be some of both. They redesigned the power window switches because of safety.

It's fairly obvious that it's done because the door shape design makes it impossible to go down fully. It's not a safety feature. Describing that as a safety feature? Maybe a politician would try and put that kinda spin on the truth The power window 'anti trap' is indeed a safety feature, back in the day there were reports of nasty accidents. Rear window locks I think are mandated in many countries now, so most cars have the function. |

like was said earlier I don't think it's a safety feature more than a design limitation. The F30 sedan has no such safety feature. It's common place on other cars as well.
