OFHG is $30 OE part and an easy diy. so knock off $780
Now youre at $2,000. If you're a diy, you can probably do all of this for way less than $1000.

About how long do you think to DIY the OFHG? That shop/dealer sure estimated some serious labor hours. I've done it on my old (and gone now) E39 w/I-6 motor, not horrible but takes bit of time due to removing alternator and PS pump.
Maybe less work on newer motors? Thanks/Bill |

Not positive of the location on the N55 but assume it's similarly located (not buried). |

Perhaps they pressure/leak tested the cooling system and the tank is leaking, good question for the service guy. These plastic tanks do crack internally and/or externally- heat under the hood and the hot coolant is hard on plastic.

OFHG is a little more time consuming on the N55 because one of the bolts on the engine side is blocked by the intake manifold.

Similar issue on the N20 where *technically* you need to/should take off the intake manifold but apparently can be done without doing so and just loosening the bolts on the OFH long enough to slip the gasket between the block and OFH. The other gasket (cooler to OFH) is wide open and looks very simple to do. Anyone with first hand experience or a quick DIY, please share! |

I've had both OFHG and valve cover gasket replaced under CPO... No idea why it wasnt covered for OP or why they didnt just say "hey we changed this for you because we saw it, but you really need these replaced as well". Maybe it was a strategy to keep him from leaving with something replaced under cpo and getting the rest cheaper at and indy?

Update:
I went to bmw over the weekend to talk to them about my warranty. and they said I have coverage for everything.. but I had to specifically talk to the service advisor I saw. I had to wait because he wasn't working. Yesterday on the phone, the service advisor said and he didn't know I had CPO warranty coverage until March 2019. smh! So everything is covered. I was just about to buy parts and do most of it myself haha. These dudes got me SHOOOOOK. 💀💀💀 I wonder what I have to pay out the door for though. service charges, maybe? hmm. |

And the older CPOs (pre 2017) were very basic, unlike today’s Platinum Coverage. Basically, major parts like engine and drivetrain. Quote:
