330d - are diesels a bad idea to buy used nowadays
A job change that requires me to do more mileage has got me looking at 330d's.
My Fiesta will do 40mpg and is fairly quick so I figured would be a good replacement. Am I making a mistake buying a diesel now with the government war on diesels? Resale value in a few years could sink. Are the days of dpf issues with short journeys in diesels over? I considered the 330e but seems like hassle and I need as much trouble free motoring as possible for my job. Anything else to mention with the 330d as a heads up from current owners would be helpful |

BMW diesels are great cars. I owned a 2014 BMW 3 series diesel. It was racking up 52 MPG (US) on extended drives 44 MPG on average. Loved the car. I think diesels are a thing of the past though. I know in the UK iand over in Europe they are big, but cities and countries are cracking down on them. Think ahead four or five years...great now, but will it have any resale value when it comes time to trade in, trade up or sell.

I'm now wondering whether to just get a 320i and stomach the fuel economy vs the 330d.
I'll be buying used so concerned the resale value of a diesel will plummet if the diesel war turns bad |

If bmw offer more diesel car (thus higher performance) in Canada, I would buy one instead of petrol.
