2013 BMW F30 335i - Batter Check Alert (reported by the dealer)
I took my 2013 BMW F30 335i to the dealer to swap summer tires for winter tires (Pirelli Sottozero Series II on 19" 401 OEM wheels - a second set I keep for winter tires).
The SA took plugged in my key fob into a reader and mentioned to me that the battery alert has been observed. I haven't driven the car lately which makes sense. SA also told me that the battery is not covered under warranty and will not hold the charge at some point if the car is not driven frequently enough. Batter replacement cost: apparently a few hundred dollars. Time to drive the car more frequently. [PS] Just realized the message is the wrong forum. Apologies to the moderator. |

sounds like a bunch of bs...
How would the battery charge when driving when it's in your pocket?

is the SA talking about your cars battery or the key fob battery?
if its the car: how often do you drive your car? if you drive it once every few days it should be more than fine to keep the battery alive. also, dont go to BMW for a battery replacement. you can buy any third party brand for a lot cheaper if its the key fob: your key does NOT get recharged....ever. it just drains and drains until it dies and then you replace it. Im pretty sure you can replace the battery yourself. If its anything like other car keys i have experience with....a $5 CR2032 will solve your problem
