xdrive is crap in the snow.

Even with summer tyres, sport + enabled you simply cannot have any drifting fun.

I find that hard to believe. I've had the back end out in the middle of summer in mine.

Wrong snow.

I've seen xDrive and 4-Motion models on summer tyres chewing away on snow, virtually getting no where, convinced me to stay with RWD and winter tyres.

Seems from the news, a sprinkling of snow still bring the roads to a halt.

Safe driving guys.

You must be doing something wrong, 100's of average drivers were drifting a 435d on a wet road at the BMW Oulton park event, me included.

How did you manage that then? I was even using the handbrake at one point to try n get it going but the handbrake wasn't effective all I got was an irritating bong from the dash.

I was starting from a low speed in an industrial estate car park not on a wet bit of track where I'm entering corners at a high speed and have some momentum to swing the car into a slide.

No magic. It's actually rather simple. If it detects slip it diverts power to the other axle and it can do that to any varying degree.

I have no idea why you hate on xdrives so much, even though the likes of me can't seem to easily achieve a potential car accident in a car that's no longer within warranty because it was lowered?

You best not be giving me grief if you drive a 320d, cos if you do... you sir, need to look in the mirror and ask yourself what went wrong

xDrive is magical.... in snow you can stop on a dime, something an sDrive can't do.

Sorry I was day dreaming, I woke up and realised tyres are the key to stopping, not the drivetrain.
