Winter tyres for 4 Series.

Hi, I am trying to get myself a few winter tyres for my 4 Series ... several searches and I just can't find anywhere the exact ratings on my current wheels.

The rear wheel rating is:

255/35 R19 92Y

The closest I can find is

"Bridgestone Blizzak LM-25 (Winter Tyre) - 255/35 R19 V (96)" ... at http://www.blackcircles.com/catalogu...55/35/R19/V/96

The load rating is 96 and the Speed Rating is different... do you think I am ok going for it?

Thanks.

The LM25's are a very old tyre now, and are very poor compared to more modern designs.

By the looks of it the only modern premium winter tyre in that size is the Dunlop SP Winter Sport 4D

They are the ones i have, albeit 18's, and they are excellent after 1-2k run in period. They're quite reasonable at £165 each & an added bonus is they're non run flat.

V rating is the heighest you'll get on a Winter tyre.

Thanks for that ... my main concern is over the load rating; the one the link is 96, where my current is 92. Is going for 96 ok? (I presume it will be).

Thanks.

Yes going higher is fine. They're higher because it's an XL (extra load) tyre, if you look on your door sticker BMW actually specify XL for winter tyres.

Don't forget to keep a bottle of slime, a metal valve tool and a pump in your car if you're going non RFT though!

Defiantly; its just for a couple of moths a year so hopefully wont need too resort to the above... but you never know!

It is very unlikely but hey, we all used to cart around an extra wheel in the boot, so a slime kit is a small price to pay for the benefits of non rft's!

+1. Have these on our 435. Supple, grippy, amazing in the wet. Slight noise increase but marginal over noisy RFTs. Not used on white stuff yet but perform excellently for normal cold weather stuff. Recommended
