335i xdrive tire / wheel size
Hello,
My 2014 335i xdrive came with square setup 225's all around. I've searched and was not able to come up with a definitive answer, can you mount 255 width tires (rear) onto my wheels: 18" Double Spoke Style 397 (Sport Line wheels) - 18x8" ET34 Would like to keep the 225's or slightly wider in front and move to 255's in rear. Is this setup agreeable to longevity on the xdrive drivetrain? Thanks, Tom Last edited by tempest.hazard; 03-21-2015 at 11:53 AM.. |

If I was doing that I would go to a different set of aftermarket wheels with a wider wheel in back. In my opinion the tire will be bulging off the wheel and ruin the staggered look.

Is there a source one can use when it comes to trying to factor in different wheel / tire sizes and keeping the final output looking "normal"? Changing wheel and tire sizes from the OEM size is new to me and obviously not an inexpensive upgrade. Just don't want fork out a ton of coconuts and find out the final product looks like crap. |

BMW recommends that you keep the diaameters of the front and rear tires within 1% on xDrives. You can use these links to visualize different combinations. Keep in mind that the OEM diameter is ~26". Agree with xlover that you're probly better off with staggered wheels if that's the look you're after.

Thanks to all for the input, much appreciated.
Still undecided on what route to take, leaning on keeping the square setup with slightly wider setup. |

Why don't you just go 245/35 or 40 all around?
It would look better, although 245 seems kind of wide for an 8" rim. Maybe 235/35 or 40. Putting a staggered tire setup on a square rim setup can be done, but 255 would be too wide for 8".

Hey guys. I know I'm reviving a dead thread, but I have a 2011 BMW 335Xi. I'm wanting to get the new Goodyear Eagle Exhilarates on it when the old ones go bad. They only come on 235/45ZR17 when stock is 225/45R17. Is the 235 width okay? Or anything else the Exhilarates are sold in?: https://www.goodyear.com/en-US/tires...on/sizes-specs

I'm running 275s in the rear and 255s up front on 19" 437M's with xDrive. Yes I realize the rolling diameter is more than 1" but the fitment is just too good to change haha

Hmmm... I don't really want to stagger, but 275s work fine on the e90? So you think I could get the 235s fine on stock rims? Eventually I want new rims, just not quite yet.
